Man,,these Kenyan/Nigerian are world's elite long distance runners, bar none. It's in their genes.

My 15 yr old daughter got into cross country varsity team last year at her school and she does 2-3 miles daily and also working with a coach.

School just got a Kenya girl this year and she's wrecking all kinda records without any professional coaching/training. My daughter is good friends with her and apparently, all she did was "walk/run to school 5 days week back home and the school was 5 KM from home". LOL.

... and the ones that became elite ran home for lunch.

Nigerians are sprinters, not distance runners. They're terrible at distance. On the other hand, Kenyans are terrible at sprinting.

Of the 143 men who have broken 10 seconds in the 100 meters, all except 3 or 4 are of west African (e.g., Nigerian) origin.

One of the Kenyan previous marathon world record holders from ~10 years ago grew up across the street from school, wore shoes every day, and ran no more as a youth than I did. He worked a sedentary job until age 21 when he got inspired to start running. By age 30 he'd set the world record in the marathon.

The running to and from school thing is true for some of the Kenyans, but there's more to it than that.
