just for squats and safety mostly.
I live alone and will be lifting alone and most half racks i've seen have short arms.
can just get a cage i'm learning for the same price as a half rack with longer arms.
they sell 72" full cages but if i could find a decent half rack with decent arm legnth i'd go that route.

Some order has been restored on my side with regards to candy, lol. No more cookies sitting at home and staring at me from the cupboard. Ate around 700 grams of homemade baked potato chips (or fries?) a few days back; all those micros and that Potassium. Felt so good. Not a bad option IMO if one doesn't go over the minimum req. for protein/fat since they turn out to be around a calorie per gram.

but i agree.
but iphone was free from someone who upgraded to a 7.
I've rooted my amazon fire tab, changed the launcher, added google play and it's decent now.
the hardware is fairly good for $49, it's all the amazon crap they put on it that can slow it down.
i just didn't want to go from no cell phone bill to a cell phone bill plus monthly phone payment or shelling out for a phone.
i'm about to drop a good chunk of change for basement flooring so i'm trying to keep my monthly bill load low.

Ah, if you didn't pay anything for it and have a Fire tab with Google Play, I'd say that's a good deal. I had a Nexus tab and was using just a call phone with that. Eventually switched to a smartphone since I got tired of carrying too much stuff.Calories In, Calories Out.

While I'll be considering an Android for my next phone, there is a reason why Apple dominates that market. When you want something to just work, and if you have anything else in the Apple ecosystem, there are just few comparisons. If it was just the phone, iPhone is a no-brainer - but android is developing a much more expansive ecosystem and will be a whole lot cheaper for home integration with products that work with everything as opposed to Apple, which works with nothing else and costs 4x as much.
And new phones from Google, Huawei, etc are closing the gap quick.1175 @172

There is always someone less fortunate, with real hunger, with real adversity, who made something of themselves. What is your excuse?

Have any of you seen the show Secret Eaters? I just watched a guy eat a burger on the couch, fall asleep mid burger, wake up and promptly finish the burger before going to bed.
The guy didn't know why he doesn't lose weight; he only eats 1500 calories a day.You can't help the hopeless.

A couple of months back. People logging in less than 2k when in they reality they were consuming twice that along with a pregnant eating for two mentality. Night snacking is a thing for most people with no hobbies other than indoors (being sedentary), boredom and excess money. Been there and done that.
It just hit me how I was eating "so little" while at uni and maintaining but it makes since each small cupcake was probably 100 cal and two packs of instant noodles around 900 cal O_O. It's not like I don't eat a large bag of popcorn (or other snacks) late night sometimes while watching a movie nowadays, but I still track calories, so it's not a huge issue.
Not really trying to direct hate towards anyone include Apple product users. The Shuffle is decent; had one and gave it away since music wasn't an interest for me at the time which I now regret especially since my Sansa clip stopped working after taking a spin in the washer but my mentality has always been a "buy only those gadgets that allow me to learn, use and integrate them the way I want to".
I can understand picking up some new hardware every two years (or every year even depending on the requirements that suit MY needs) but I'm not going to be subscribing to a "service" for "upgrades" every month on any kind of tech. Period.Calories In, Calories Out.

Bahah. Good one.
Seriously.... good one. EVERYTHING is going subscription/service. Everything. You won't be able to have anything "tech" without it being recurring revenue for the company within probably the next decade or two, including owning a car.
That's not bad news though so I'm not sure why you're so resistant to it. It is a vastly vastly superior value for everyone involved, will be way cheaper, and will open up loads of opportunities that you wouldn't have had otherwise.
Think of the car situation. Self driving so you don't need it parked in your driveway for it to be on demand. You just 'call' your ride and it shows up in minutes and takes you wherever you need to be. Now you only have to pay a fraction of the car price and the actual cost of commuting (pennies when you subsidize - see: subscribe - to your energy production) instead of $500+ per month for a rapidly depreciating asset.
There is a reason why the "cloud" and software as a service has been revolutionary. Hint: it's not because crotchety old men complaining about subscription fees are right.1175 @172

subscription for service for software is different than hardware.
I don't like it because the companies are trying to force you into buying their new hardware when you don't need to.
it isn't happening organically.
The whole smart car thing didn't work in hot tub time machine 2 so i don't think it will work in real life.

Note what I wrote earlier; the keyword is tech but specifically referring to consumer devices. I am all for subscription services when it comes to housing (leasing), public transport, car rentals, utilities, food, cellular packages and wifi. I love Google Drive but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to own a physical hard drive to backup my data.
I'm going to have to agree with Nitro regarding the fact that the subscription service might be a way for the companies to force you into buying their stuff and it being very likely that the subscriber doesn't get the best bang for buck value when it comes to hardware.
Even with software though, why should I try to get a subscription when I can find a freeware than can perform the same task? Cloud software is fine if you're running a company but I'm not seeing the point if one is a casual user. If someone doesn't have a net connection though, they are basically screwed.Calories In, Calories Out.

They are a good buy used, fast processor. Charger port is a pile. One of the reasons I really like the s7 and it's wireless charger. Probably go about 4 years on the S7.
I've been using a samsung midsize tablet. It's OK with a $5 launcher. But I'd like to pick up a Nvidia Shield, no bloatware and zippy processor. I like the smaller tablets for recreational use.The most important aspect of weight training; whether for the athlete, bodybuilder, or average person is to better ones health and ability without injury. - Bill Pearl

You guys aren't thinking long enough term. Right now you're saying software as a service makes sense but hardware doesn't. Why? What happens when we're subscribing to all software-type things (which is an very narrow sub-category of tech). The only reason those things exist long term is because they generate money, either through subscription, ads, selling user data, using user data, or drawing people into your eco system. Now you NEED hardware to access that stuff and companies want you to keep up with their pace of inovation. That means making sure you keep your hardware up to date. You think people are going to pay $500-1000 for a new phone every year? But companies are going to make way way more money off you through all the non-hardware stuff that they won't HAVE to sell the hardware. It can be leased, even at negative revenue, and then they keep you using all the other stuff.
If it works for cars and housing and all this other stuff, it works for almost everything. Once a phone (or whatever device we're using) becomes essential to be able to make recurring revenue off of you, it's natural that it turns into some type of subscription or lease or whatever. Apple has already started it (and it's very successful already) and phone companies have been doing it for decades - subsidizing phones to get you tied into their company. If you've ever purchased a phone that requires you to be on contract, you have already been leasing your phone. If you haven't - you will be soon enough.
Even with software though, why should I try to get a subscription when I can find a freeware than can perform the same task? Cloud software is fine if you're running a company but I'm not seeing the point if one is a casual user. If someone doesn't have a net connection though, they are basically screwed.1175 @172

How about open source applications like those found on Sourceforge? I'm still on Windows 7 since I'm not a fan of W'10 but yeah. I get where you are coming from since they make money off of advertising but there are options.
EDIT: I'm very stubborn though and only look for core features.Last edited by gomil; 03-25-2017 at 11:17 AM.

Question for you OCD calorie counters. How do you track Bacon? I just cooked 175g (raw) of bacon then weighed what I could easily soak up from the pan. There was 54g of fat/oil...
I know the question is asked a million times online but just looking for your guys' opinions.1175 @172

There are folks though who do this stuff without charging a price as they feel that something like this is a matter of liberty similar to how people on this forum are willing to empower those not in the know with information regarding fitness (instead of directing them toward listening to people whose intention is to sell products or paying a bro trainer).
Something like LibreOffice might be a good example and it offers a decent suite that includes spreadsheet, document and presentation processing capabilities.
But you are entirely correct that for a larger corporation to give away free stuff is a way of expanding their customer base and luring more people in by getting them to recognize/learn about how they might benefit by those products by giving them a sneak (and nowadays a feature filled) peek. Of course it doesn't work with a smart consumer who is aware of his requirements but with 99 % of the population being daft and having a surplus of money (big factor), the company always ends up benefiting.
Jimmy Kimmel did a demonstration (even though probably staged; like duh) on how Apple's branding resonates w.r.t. the new iPhone. This is the target demographic of all successful businesses esp. in consumer products and every company dreams of something like so.
