got that problem where i can't decide who i want as my bodyguards. i used to always have garrus by my side, that was a no-brainer. but with this crew i don't even know. most likely the turian and maybe cora.

for me, its whoever comes off a mature character. Which means, probably none of the humans, they all seem like they are going to act like children for some reason and they are visually less appealing. At least with alien companions, theres no base line for how they should act. I always used Garrus and Mordin in ME2 and Garrus and Vega in ME3

It seems like the krogan is going to be the most mature, followed by vetra nyx (turian), and the new race guy.

Vetra definitely going to be my companion, she looks the most badass.

ME2 was the hardest for choosing companions. Man I wanted to take them all. Garrus, Miranda, Thane, Grunt, Legion, Mordin, Tali, Mordin, Samara.......... and then you have the DLC characters. Kasumi and Zaeed.........

Never really used Kasumi or Jacob in ME2. They were two overall forgettable characters for me with the exception of their loyalty missions which were both pretty cool.

Definitely will be running with Vetra and Drak for most of the game most likely. Gonna try to drop Peebee off on the nearest asteroid and hopefully try to bang the lesbian chick.

Anyone know what the budget was for this game? It seems like it was made very cheaply. Not much testing it seems, poor writing (they should have hired actual sci-fi writers with some fuking imagination), poor animators, seemingly no voice director, game designers all seem like childish SWJ dorks rather than actual game designers.

Like how do you make a ME game and only introduce 2 new races when the previous games had like 20+ races. Fuking disgraceful.

the game is visually striking and has A LOT of voice acting. Not all of it is bad either, voice acting or animation, we need to be clear about that. Yes there are unforgivable issues but that shouldnt cloud the fact it does have a lot of good. I have no clue what the budget was, we can assume it was probably closer to 9 figures instead of mid 8s. Just look at all the years it was in production.

I looked back at podunks post and i have no idea how that thing was the best he could make.

Can't say i'm impressed at all with this game though, luckily just doing the trial but i can't see myself paying more than $30 for this.

Pros:
Story has me intrigued

Liam and Cora are not boring sidekicks like i thought theyd be

Gameplay is fun

Cons:
Animations awkward, but the russell girl is by far the worst, most are much better than her

Voice actor choices are just bizarre for the first krogan and salarian you meet. Had to do a double take hearing them speak the first time

Biggest issue with animations is the eyes are too white and the foreheads/cheeks dont move

Jetpack is a great addition
Graphics are mostly very good
Story seems good
Tons of stuff to do and haven't run into DA:I style fetch quests yet
Equipment mods are back

Bad:
The facial animations are truly terrible
Can't control you squadmates power use. They're just there and use them when they want
They clearly had the voice actors just read the individual lines with each dialogue choice. Which sucks because the choices are better than before

It's not as good so far. I really like the combat but it's not on HZD's level. Being able to mix and match abilities is awesome, though. I haven't really gotten that far but I think the base building and planet harvesting should be rewarding.

I would say if you've liked the ME games, especially the exploration aspect, and you're not going to be seriously bothered by the negatives that are clearly there, get it. For me the thing that's really bothered me is the inability to order squad mates using their powers. That's the big negative for me.

Although in truth if you're on the fence I'd just wait for a sale.

booted it up this morning...so far Im not running into any of the issues people have been complaining about for the past week. I just landed on initial planet, just to give some context.

No visual bugs, walk cycles are fine, and made myself a good looking male Ryder (no homo of course). The ONLY thing I noticed was in a few quick instances, since I was looking out for them, the lips puckered up during some discussion with the captain of the ship. If I hadnt known about it, I would have thought nothing of it.

Im personally happy with the way they introduced the story and I completely disagree with reviewers saying the game should have started as the ship was entering orbit of the planet.

At the moment, it doesnt feel very mass effect like, the lighting, mood, and music are different. It feels a lot less gritty

I love ME but wont defend it blindly. If something is fuked up, Ill say so.


edit: lack of power wheel is disturbing...and not being able use companion skills is already pissing me off. Having load outs with 3 skills and only being able to tell them who to attack is definitely a big down grade in terms of game play. Hopefully I adjust but running in to the first enemy group and thinking I could pause the action quickly to assign attacks...and it not happening, bummer.
