You know I think one of the reasons that devs came up with all these stupid special editions with season passes and expensive DLC is because they make no money once the game hits the used market, and since every freaking retailer sells used games anymore (Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Hastings (RIP), Gamestop, etc.) and there's also Redbox and Gamefly, they had to do this chit so they could make some money. Get rid of chit hole Gamestop (the prime suspect) and devs probably wouldn't be re-releasing games as remasters and asking retarded prices for DLC.

I think it also has to do with the fact that base game prices didn't increase this generation. Back in the ps2/xbox days new games were $50, then with the next generation they increased to $60, but with the current gen they didn't increase so they have to make up for inflation/rising development costs by getting a lot of people in with the 60 dollar price point, then making a lot more with DLC and add on microtransactions. I think I'd prefer that than having all games starting at $70 or $80, at least you have a choice about which content you think is worth paying more for.*Gets nervous going in for a haircut crew

EA is a multi-billion dollar business, not a charity. They have shareholders/investors to appease so if people are going to pay $150 for an ultimate edition, they're going to sell it. They said they expect to sell just under 15 million copies of BF1. Even if everyone paid just $60 for it, that's just under a billion in revenue. Don't think they give a sht about used sales at Gamestop.

didn't expect this many to answer, I've play a lot of EA games some of which are my favourite (BFME, BF, NFS, CnC). I wouldn't mind the cost if every single server wasn't down

Most games end up being $100+ now if you buy the game and DLC
If you factor in microtransactions, you're looking at considerably more than that. It's honestly pretty ridiculous.
Did play BF1 beta and watched buddy play through the campaign and some multiplayer today. Probably one of the best BF games to ever.no homo

Game is 60$. You dont have to purchase Ultimate edition.
the difference is, you pay upfront for the upcoming 4 xpacks with more content. First expansion is currently scheduled for March 2017. So you have 5 months to play the game before having to purchase another xpack for 20$.
I personally think that if i even play a game for 2 months without getting bored, its worth the money spent. And if I enjoy something, i dont mind paying for more of that thing that I enjoy when its released.
Also, servers were down because of the DDoS attack, not because EA sucks. It has probably been the smoothest game launch in the history of BF1.*4 crew*

Lolz @ plebs not willing to pay 200$ for something you could literally put 1000s of hours into.
I put over 1k hours into BF3, and about half that into BF4.
Well worth the money.Disclaimer: All posts made by [LtGoose] are works of satire. By reading this you agree to absolve the author of any and all liability.

One thing about DLC and micro transactions is it gets more money from people who get more value out of a game.
The three most addictive elements in all of gaming are:
1) RNG, games that have to do with probability, or different results happening each time you play. (Poker, MOBA, most online games)
2) Exp/lvling/grind (RPGs and games with RPG elements)
3) Hoarding/completionist/100%+ all trophies and achievements. (Most games and esspecially open world games)
If you think about it, most of the most popular games have 2 if not 3 of these elements.
So I think the 3rd one, when people are getting addicted to 100% completion, those people are getting the most value of the game and I think those core gamers dont mind paying for DLC and stuff.
Its getting money from the right people who make the most of the product vs the casuals who dont get addicted like that hardcore.
Usually DLC content has little value outside of just "knowing you did every single thing and got every single item" -- which to some people is rewarding

They know people will pay it, then it will go on sale soon for all the people who wait for sales.
Friday night. Date night in Miami. Every night is a date night in Miami, and everyone's having sex. But for me, sex never enters into it. I don't understand sex. Not that I have anything against women, and I certainly have an appropriate sensibility about men, but when it comes to the actual act of sex, it's always just seemed so undignified. But I have to play the game.

It's $60 like any other game. Play it for a while, and if you like it a lot, buy the xpac for the same price you would now..?
