I used to squat in wrestling shoes but ended up not liking them since they're not wide enough. Don't give enough lateral support.

What's everyone's opinion on deadlift suits? Worth it at all or just pull in squat suit?

Looks like Titan has a new single ply shirt. http://www.liftinglarge.com/Evil-Twin-Powerlifting-Gear
Not IPF approved currently. Maybe because the approved list is frozen until 2018? Thoughts?

can anybody recommend some straps that don't rip?
the other night mine ripped on my second set of 660 pulls, I'm thinking it could've easily costed me an injury if it happened just slightly later
edit: I hookgrip and have no grip issues so I use them fairly often too

[/I]I loved my metal suit and hated pulling in a Centurion. Recently I've switched to the TRX and it feels decent. My pull blows though so I'm not one to take much advice from.
Its not new. Been out for a while but hasn't really taken off since they released it. I HIGHLY doubt it'll get approval. I read reviews of it and its basically multyply. Like literally two ply's of material in certain places.
Here's a review from USPA Technical Chairman
Steve Denison
July 3, 2013
Here are the comments from Gordon Santee, our Technical Chairman, on his review of the Titan Evil Twin gear that was recently reviewed and considered for approval.
I have spent considerable time reviewing in detail the construction of the Titan Evil Twin Single Ply Bench Shirt and Squat/Deadlift Suit. The manufacturer has developed a single ply material that is approximately 30%-40% thicker than conventional single ply material. We are dealing with fractions of a millimeter but none the less a thicker material. Since there are no specifications for the thickness of the material in the single ply format, we therefore are in a position of allowing this “new” single ply material. The seam width and thickness are within given specifications consistent with our rule book. There was an insignificant variation of a fraction of a millimeter on the neck seam, but nothing that would cause concern. The spacing between the neck opening seam and sleeve attachment seam is quite close, meaning there is a potential for the shirt to fit low on the chest. The rule book section 3.3.9 states “When worn by the lifter, the shoulders of the shirt must cover the deltoids, and the lowest point of the front neckline cannot be below the nipple line. The collar on the front of the shirt cannot be any wider than 1.25 inches”. The only concern would be if the lifter’s coach pulls the shirt too low on the chest it could bring the shirt off the anterior deltoids. We would have to ask the lifter to have the shirt re-set higher on the chest. There is little chance of the front neckline going below the nipple line. The shirt is well constructed and complies basically with the single ply specifications.
For the Evil Twin Squat/Deadlift suit, there are some concerns. Again, the suit is basically of single ply material and complies with the seam and hem specifications in the rule book Item 2 Lifting Costume sections 3.2.1 through 3.2.8 except for section 3.2.7. That is the problem. Technically in this instance the alteration is not made by the lifter, but rather designed in by the manufacturer. Section 3.2.7 states “Any alterations to the costume, which exceed the established widths, lengths or thickness previously stated, shall make the suit illegal for competition”. There is a special 1 inch wide overlapping seam where two panels are sewn into the midpoint of the strap that extends down the front and back of the torso to the hip area, where it is sewn into another 1 inch wide overlapping seam that traverses the hip area to the groin across the thigh. The addition of this overlapping seam is clearly double ply and would therefore violate the single ply specifications. This special seam is supportive in nature. I did not want to damage the suit by cutting into the overlapping double ply seam, but as designed into the suit, it violates section 3.2.7 and therefore becomes multi-ply. It is a unique application of getting a torso supportive thicker seam by melding two panels instead of the single cut design.
OK –here is the problem. This is the same design as used in the Titan Super Centurion W/S (Wide Stance) that was approved for use in the IPF. Titan calls it their patented harness system which clearly reinforces the single ply suit in those specific areas. The existing Titan Super Centurion squat suit is on our approved list. This is an improved Super Centurion squat suit with slightly thicker single ply material.
I reviewed several manufacturer’s suit construction and it appears that the Titan patent for the reinforced harness system is unique.
I have no alternative but to grant approval for the new Evil Twin Squat suit. The Titan Evil Twin Bench Shirt also meets our requirements for single ply and is approved.

The shirt is USPA approved and they have pretty much the same standards, right? And based on the review it sounds like the wide stance super cent has overlapping seams somewhere? Surprised that these things are seemingly just starting to be rolled out. Heck a thicker material sounds pretty nice.
When he mentions the double ply seam on the super cent which one is he talking about? One right in front of the crotch? Or the one that sits on the side of the hip?
