Question Why is no one using waist measurements in their bulk statistics/reports?

To me it sounds like it would be the easiest/accurate way to measure fat vs muscle gain at home (as in, no dexa or bod pods). Yet I hardly see it used.

How much does your waist increase on a successful bulk? (in your opinion)

I would say the easiest way to measure fat vs muscle gain during a bulk is relative strength progression.

But you can gain strength even in a cut/ calorie deficit?

You could also keep your waist size the same and lose strength. There's no perfect way to measure progress really.

IMO aim to increase strength and keep scale weight gained to a max of 1-2lbs a month= successful bulk.

I find it easiest to track progress whether bulking or cutting with taking pictures and measurements like waist, hips, legs, arms etc.

Not necessarily. I have convinced myself that I was getting bigger when I was actually just getting fatter on more than one occasion.

If you double your max squat without gaining loads of bodyweight you can be pretty much certain that your legs will get bigger.

on a leaner bulk your waist size shouldn't increase very much at all. gaining like 3 inches on your waist is a tell-tale sign you are probably bulking too much. But of course some of that waist size increase could be due to water retention. If you are gaining like 2 lbs a month your waist isn't going to increase in size that much whatsoever.

i typically gain 2 inches on waist . of course would be great if gained none i think waist measurement is best indicator of sucessful bulk. people are doing arm , chest measurements etc which can increase dramatically from fat gain
