I know, I didn't mean any disrespect. As an engineer, expect good raises but you aren't entitled to them. Inflation has outpaced wage increase for a long time.
My experience:
Tech: hourly wage, overtime pay, ok base rate ($15-25/hr), raises on order of $.50-$1.00 an hour or sometimes more
Engineer: salary, bonus, occasionally work evenings or weekends without OT pay, raises 1-5% unless big promotion, stock options"If you don't vote for me you ain't black!" - Plantation Joe Biden

Go to your boss and apologize for the way you acted then say you'll be more than happy to accept the new 52k offer. Hopefully it will fix a little of the respect he just lost for you and you'll be able to keep your job for a while longer. If not then I'm sure he'll be looking for a replacement ASAP. Either way, I'd start looking for a new job that will hopefully pay you more. Negotiate on your starting salary next time rather than trying to when raises come around.

A true alpha will admit when he is wrong. Apologize to the man and accept whatever fate is in store. Putting in your two weeks before finding another job is foolish. You can act like an alpha by wearing bling and trying to force your way onto others, but in the end it is an act and not a true sense of self worth. You still have a chance to right this ship if you jump on it. In the meantime, if you manage to patch things up, look around for another job and then make a decision. 23 making 50k+ is not bad man.

Irrelevant blaha copypasta:
So those of you who don’t believe any of this, that’s okay I really don’t give a fuk. I’m still telling my story. This is what it is and if you don’t believe me fuk you go fuk yourself i don’t care. For all these guys who are veterans who are standing there still screaming about your valor, stolen valor, after what i just told you that that sounds like i am stealing any of your valor, you know what? Fuk you kid. And go fuk yourself I don’t really care what you think. But i will tell you this. If you decide that you’re going to come confront me physically about it you better not be a fuking POG. You better be a stone cold killer. If you come at me aggressively voice raised negative body language as someone who i know is a trained killer. Because i don’t flinch anymore when i hear a rifle round come by my head. When i hear that whoop and that snap or that sonic boom. I haven’t flinched in 20 years from that sh*t. I got over that a long time ago. So if you come at me i want you to know something. It’s not gonna be me who goes in the ground. I’m still here. I’m still upright and drawing air.*2 poor 2 b a fake natty crew*

chitty boss but if it went down like you said, the way you asked for more was unprofessional.
I've done that in the past where my boss gave me a raise but I told him that I was anticipating xyz. We had a candid talk and I eventually took the initial raise but he helped me with my career path.
Also there are times where I wasn't expecting a raise but I got one anyway.
Your boss sounds like someone I wouldn't want to work with. Not sure of your work culture. I'd probably start looking elsewhere in the interim.A hit was sent, from the President, to raid your residence /

This. You absolutely have to clear the air with your boss and apologise sincerely. Say that somebody told you to always negotiate (don't name names or you'll sound like a little b*tch) and that you realise it was stupid advice.
From your boss's point of view, giving salary increases is usually good news. He probably enjoys doing it and seeing the smiles on grateful employees' faces. He may even have had to fight for budget to increase salaries. You kinda just spat that back in his face.

obviously you dun goofed hard.
but now you don't have a choice. if you accept his lower offer now, you are losing your face.
nobody will take you serious ever again in this company.
you should leave and learn from your mistake.
like many miscers suggested: if you are negotiating about a raise, you should point out facts why you deserve more and not act like a little stubborn child.*FC Bayern München*

Bolded for emphasis. You are effectively an intern. You have no degree and no experience. Unless you have justification for asking for more (market analysis, offer from another company, etc.) you can't just "demand" more money. Learn from this mistake. Since you've still been offered a raise, I'd talk to your boss, apologize for not handling it well, comment about how this hasn't been pleasant but you've learned from the experience and thank him for the new raise. You're on his **** list now but if you're humble and apologize you can actually recover and in a few weeks you'll be alright.
If you're really worth 55k go look for another position that pays that but don't quit before you've found a new arrangement unless you can afford it. CAD techs are easy to come by.D/SQ/B = 405/335/270 = 1010#
