    Creatine: 2-5g or more?

    Reading an article at muscle&fitness I noticed it's stated that taking 2 to 5 g of creatine before your workout and then another 2 to 5 g after your workout. This is obviously just on workout days.

    Does this seem excessive? I see most people on here talking about taking anywhere from 2 to 5 g per day.. This article from muscle and fitness is suggesting double that on workout days.

    Maybe 2g pre workout and 2g post workout.. any more than that would probably cause stomach issues

    In any case there is no need to split the dose or to take it peri-workout.

    Take ~3-4g per day any time with any fluid.

    Timing isn't important at all. Shoot for 5 grams every day for a month. You then could bump it down to 3 grams a day on workout days only to maintain saturation. I generally prefer 5 grams every day even though it isn't needed.

    OP, almost nobody on this website is big enough to ever never need to take more than 5 grams per day.

    2.5 pre and 2.5 post is fine, or take 5 all at one time. I suggest 5 grams per day for the first month, and then you can drop down to 3-5 grams per day total.

    Timing of creatine isn't important. Get in 3-5 grams per day and you good to go

    From a broscience standpoint, I have a friend who was at 30g/day and swore by it. A few others have gone to 10+, some said it made a difference, some said it didn't. I've personally gone to 10, and didn't notice anything different, but don't generally respond to creatine much anyway. So I'm thinking it could just be a mental thing at best.

    That said, science says that you shouldn't need more than 5, ever. You can try it, but chances are you'll just pee out the excess.

    3-5 grams max and at any time of day is perfect. 4-5 days a week thats it if you want to run long term.
