I can't comment much on the conditions in Israel, but probably if you were a polite, well-groomed waiter you probably wouldn't get fired for spilling a drink. I've seen that happen multiple times. For the restaurant/cafe in question it makes no difference if they keep you or not; the customer was already spilt on and will either never come back or take it in his stride as an unfortunate random event. Unless of course you were completely inappropriate in handling the aftermath.
