What's with all the Adelaide hate? How many people have actually lived here?
If I was to settle down with a family anywhere in Australia, it would be Adelaide.
Plenty of festivals year round, nightlife isn't bad, housing is cheap, traffic is barely anything to complain about.
Surrounded by wineries and even further out are the Flinders Ranges / Yorke Peninsula.
Sure it can seem slow compared to the bigger cities, but for a population of 1.1mil... it does very well.
Also, this is coming from someone who spent a majority of his life on the Gold Coast.

New York is quite safe, but I'd be willing to bet that "access to health care" is also a factor. Many rankings are rigged by our lack of a universal/socialized healthcare system, it's considered a disadvantage. Obviously, in reality, if you have a stable job, you probably have excellent access to the system.
Still, having been a number of places, a lot of international cities are actually much better maintained and more pleasant than some of the major American cities. As long as I could keep my income, would not hesitate to relocate if I had a good reason.Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

So some *******s have a hard-on for Canada and Australia and decided to make a list about it.
Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver are the 3 cities I'd expect to hear from somebody who's never actually lived in Canada."Wherever there's a ******* posting walls of text, I'll be there. Wherever there's a juicy post lost in a multi-page thread, I'll be there. And when the miscers cry out for cliffs, charge their neg cannons, and wonder if the thread is worth reading, why, I'll be there" - NateTheGood
