The researchers didn't analyze the solutions to see exactly which chemicals might be the culprits. But the paper pointed out that some of the chemicals that are used to replace BPA have been shown to have even more estrogenic activity than BPA does.

Almost all commercially available plastic products we sampled--independent of the type of resin, product, or retail source--leached chemicals having reliably detectable EA, including those advertised as BPA free. CONCLUSIONS:
Many plastic products are mischaracterized as being EA free if extracted with only one solvent and not exposed to common-use stresses. However, we can identify existing compounds, or have developed, monomers, additives, or processing agents that have no detectable EA and have similar costs. Hence, our data suggest that EA-free plastic products exposed to common-use stresses and extracted by saline and ethanol solvents could be cost-effectively made on a commercial scale and thereby eliminate a potential health risk posed by most currently available plastic products that leach chemicals having EA into food products.

I've drastically cut the amount of plastic I use. Look up "Klean Kanteen" for a good metal water bottle. I don't go anywhere near the plastic water cooler at work. Use only glassware for storing/heating food. Stay away from all processed food (frozen foods, canned food). If the ingredients list isn't simple I don't eat it. I also go organic as much as possible. "Natural" doesn't really mean much but organic at least has some kind of guidelines the food maker needs to follow.

Of course it's impossible to eliminate every chemical but you can greatly reduce your exposure with some effort.

Oh and look up "Truly's" for a good deodorant with all natural ingredients.

It's going to be winter soon. Look for sales on grass fed chuck roast for stews and chili. In my area it can get down to $5/lb, which is a damn good deal.
