Depends on what you feed. However, feed doesn't exponentially increase as the dog gets bigger.
On the large side @ 150lbs, they'd eat about 3lbs of raw food daily. For kibble, you're looking at about 4-5 cups daily.
I feed my 40lb dogs 8 cups during the winter since they are outside dogs. So I shovel 40 cups/day for all my dogs. In the warmer months they get about 2-3 cups."An injury to one, is an injury to all. Workers of the world, unite!"

All dogs are pack animals. They all hunt in packs. Cats are the ones that can hunt alone or in packs (tigers, cheetahs...). Saying one is disadvantaged while another is not, is saying you are not familiar with K9s at all. Even coyotes try to hunt in pairs if they break off from the pack.
Her is some reading. They are savage fockers. Most likely to kill a human than any other animal as well, which is messed up that anyone would trust having one as a pet. lol
http://www.africa-wildlife-detective.com/hyena.html
"On a one-to-one basis hyenas can displace any predator except a lion from a kill." This is mostly because of the weight difference between a lion and hyena, as I mentioned earlier. Hyenas are known as bone crushers. They have the most powerful bite of any mammal as well.
National Geographic took the bite force of a few domestic dogs and wild ones.
Pitbull pressure bite was 238 lbs
German Shepherd bite was 240 lbs
Wild Dogs bite force was 317 lbs
Rottweiler bite force was 328 lbs
Wolf bite force was 406 lbs
Spotted Hyena between 800 -1,000 lbs based on multiple reports. One even said 4500, which I doubt.Last edited by Kraken; 02-11-2014 at 07:25 AM.

Agreed. I have friends that get rotties one after another. It's purely because his wife wants a protective dog. There are several issues I Have with this dog.
1. It's untrained. A dog this size NEEDS some training. The rest of these mostly revolve around training...
2. There is no word to let the dog know who is and isn't ok to be in the house
3. He has crazy energy, and they have a 1400sq ft home and a tiny back yard that isn't big enough for a dog like this.
4. He ends up being put back in to a small room for a majority of the time because he knocks over the little kids and is high maintenance with company.
I have tried to give "friendly" suggestions to make the dog more enjoyable, but they won't listen. They are good in caring for the dogs as far as health is concerned, but the dog's mental well being and sometimes others' safety gets put on the back burner. Drives me nuts. We take every single one of our dogs to puppy school where we are forced to train the dogs to do the basics for several weeks, like sitting, staying, laying etc, and this makes life with a big dog Soooooo much better. I can get my dog to sit and stay while I literally walk around the block, and she will still be sitting there waiting for me. Such a great pupOne party system; Most Republicans are Democrats, but no Democrats are Republicans.

You could easily feed them for under $1/day. In general a 40lb dog needs ~2.5 cups. This doesn't mean an 80lb dog needs 5 cups. And a 150lb dog wouldn't need 10 cups. A 150lb dog will need ~5 cups/day, or just twice as much as a 40lb dog.
Of course this is in general. Some dogs of the same breed and size will need less or more.
