What better way to start off the new year then with a little challenge to get us off on the right track with our fitness goals for 2014. The challenge will start on JANUARY 31st of the new year and end APRIL 31st of the new year, totaling ninety days. The specifics of the challenge are simple: post your before and after pictures and or videos and a select group of people will judge and decide who the winner is. We as a group will need to figure out how we are going to select the judges. To make things more interesting, I think we should try and come up with some sort of prize for the winner, which will definitely take some discussing over.
The rules are as follows:
- no putting other members down or demeaning them
- you must be honest with the pictures you post, that is to say your before pictures are taken around January 1st and your after pictures are taken around April 1st.
- keep it friendly, let's have some fun, and enjoy yourselves
If you are interested in participitating, then post in this thread saying so. Once we have enough people, we can get this thing underway and work on deciding who the judges will be.
LET'S DO IT!

- Your mindset influences your outcome. It's time to take out phrases like "I can't" or "I don't have time" and replace them with phrases like "I will make the time" and "I will keep working at it until I find a way that works." Success starts with the right mindset and believing in yourself and your dreams.

Glad to hear it ^
ANNOUNCEMENT: I am changing the date of the challenge to start on the 31st of January and end on the 31st of April. Thinking about it now it is too short of notice to start on the first, as we still have some things to discuss and work out.- Your mindset influences your outcome. It's time to take out phrases like "I can't" or "I don't have time" and replace them with phrases like "I will make the time" and "I will keep working at it until I find a way that works." Is it going to be based purely on physique changes or will achievements such as strength or fitness improvements be included?
I guess it would be hard to provide solid evidence of your improvement in these things.
I can't really participate what with new work starting in Feb and hopefully moving soon after but was just curious.

I'd be willing to judge and as I've both participated and judged before, I can offer some suggestions to make things run a little smoother. Initially, I will suggest posting in more than one section as the nutmisc is pretty dead and usually there is pretty poor ratio of contestants that actually finish. Usually, it's closer to 25% than 50% that actually complete the whole competition. So if you want 20 people to finish then you'll be pushing for close to 80 contestants.

When rules/deadlines have been established then post about it a week before the first deadline in multiple sections. I can help with that when the time comes.
As for some possible things to think about
1) keeping positive - with a majority vote of the judges, any contestant can be disqualified for excessive negativity, demeaning talk, or anything considered against the spirit of the competition. Any possible infraction should be brought to the attention of X judge through PM and then will be voted on accordingly if the judge finds it necessary.
^ I would really push for this if I were to be a judge. I said after the last nutmisc challenge that I wouldn't participate in any further one, because it turned into a large bout of crap-talking. Some gentle or friendly chiding is one thing, but I didn't like where the last one went.
2) Some sort of required participation - either posting in the chat thread, participating in the weekly challenges, or maintaining and/or supporting a running log. This would need some thinking as I think it would be hard to enforce, but having some sort of requirement or weekly check-in(with some leeway) would help to keep people interested and on track.
3) Weekly challenges - Have someone create weekly challenges - strength or workout based achievements, weight loss achievements, etc. - this would help to give people an extra thing to participate in with promises of reps.
4) Challengers award - this would be voted by the people who participated and it would go to someone who you felt really embodied the competition. Either through their dedication, support, attitude, or any combination. Gives people motivation besides just 'win' and allows someone who maybe didn't have the greatest transformation, but still added to the competition to receive something/
5) Diffusion of responsibility - to create a good competition, I think you need to find responsible and willing people who will share in the responsibility. Usually, it ends up being the organizer who takes on the major load of the work (which means less attending to the more detailed and finer aspects of the competition, and more just focusing on making sure the big stuff gets completed) and they'll have one or maybe two people who help out. There are multiple things people can do, I usually end up editing people's pictures into a proper comparison, but I'd like to see that a requirement of final pictures. The least people can do is edit together two pictures and if they don't know how then there are plenty of people who can direct them.
First, I'd establish what you'd want to do with the competition. Goals, rules, and such. Then see if you can put together a little team to help run things. It doesn't have to be that many, but maybe 2 to run the big aspects and 2-3 to run the finer detailed stuff. I'd just start making the big decisions. Length, different groupings, judging requirements, basic rules, and then you can work on the finer parts based on other's suggestions and such, but start with a base and build from there.

in. currently weigh like 212 and just want to cut to 200 so im closer to 198 for my powerlifting meet. ill take pics tonight but wont get them uploaded for a while
You are not a fragile ornament ready to collapse into an exhausted mass of goo simply because you squatted more than once in a 7-day week.
It'd be like preparing your entire life to bang 100 chicks in a row, getting tan, hitting the gym, making sure your hair looks right and reading the Kama Sutra, only to realize when you get there that you're gay and cannot get hard in the presence of women.
