Real talk? You better love the folks around you while you have them, be they family or friends. One day, either you, or they will no longer be able to 'talk.' You will try to remember something they said, with their voice, their twinkle of an eye. You'll almost get it, but it won't quite be there! Memory is a wonderful thing. Thank God there's more than just that. Sometimes those who have gone on before just seem to flow through our veins. I hear the phrase; "real talk" and I just laugh! Real talk costs a whole damned lot, while your alive! Most folk don't have the balls for it!

Education and history is important to knowing why things are the way they are. Knowing how things evolve lead to understanding and not judging.
I find too many times that some groups of people will make what is a result of evolution as the way it has always been.
The "in god we trust" on money is a prime example. The concept of separate but equal is another.
Our country IS evolving, some think it should not, yet that is its manifest destiny, change whether good or bad(again a judgment) is what defines our heritage and future.I'm open to any suggestions and have a difficult time accepting limitations without an honest effort on my part, you can count on that!

"Oh, great!" :)

Years ago I got really in to positive psychology - this is a field that attempts to enhance the lives and happiness of people in a sustainable way, rather than curing specific illness. Via that I got really in to meditation and via that really interested in Buddhism - Buddhism was mind blowing because it was the only "religion" that I'd ever heard say "look, this isn't really a religion, it's more of a self help guide...life on this planet can be tense, so here are a few tools to stop you from blowing a gasket or getting really depressed - take what is useful, forget the rest". After that I became interested in all religions - because it seemed that all the ones I knew about seemed to have this common thread "how to live the better life, how to be the better man".
I'll always have a massive respect for Buddhism, because, to me, it's a work of psychological genius...but, I love reading all of the messages and stories from all of the religions and really thinking about what observations they make about the human condition...and there's so much commonality, they're all saying the same stuff.
For me, the message and the effort of living the message is more important than the framework...and I think a lot of problems are caused by people who get too wrapped up in the details.
In summary - religions are excellent...but some of the people who attach themselves to religions make me die a little bit inside.

Like the read about "x" in xmas!!
Interesting. ....thanks!
this has turned into a thread about religion....which was expected around xmas.
In my experience, most "christians" are hypocrites anyway. You dont need church to make you a good person.
Look how many yrs people believed in mythology. ....or a "god" for every thing that happened. One religious belief calls another completely wrong and fake?
Religion is just a tool used to make people feel like there is something after life. If you find comfort in it....great! They are all similar principal.
Ever see the movie "the man from earth" or the tv sho "ancient aliens" ?????
Lol
in a few thousand years (if earth still exists) people will probably look back and laugh and say "they actually believed that? "
Happy holidays, merry christmas, gracious festivous, what ever! Just spend time with your friends and family and make the best of what life offers!

is this srs? so when someone posts something that isn't palatable per you, you think that they are potatoes being potatoes? really? LOL
this thread was exactly an invitation for their crusades and agendas. starting with the very first post. any time someone posts something they believe in, someone else is going to chime in with their own beliefs. that's how REAL TALK works.
real talk.

Real talk
If I say merry Christmas or happy holidays I am being kind, I'm not attacking your beliefs or forcing mine on you.
White male Christians need to stop acting like they are the minority.
If you can't make it work with the mother of your children then pay your child support. If you don't you are a scumbag and should be put up for public ridicule. I admit I am lucky and get along very well with my ex, but not getting along doesn't make it ok not to take care of your children.
Last but certainly not least... Pull up your phucking pants. It's not your beliefs that make you a better person, it's your behavior.

The New Testament and the Old Testament are articles of convenience for men to keep other men in line by providing them with direction and rules that prevent them from doing things that would prevent what they felt was a chaotic warlike existence. When the Duck person decided to speak out against gays he was speaking form the Old Testament because it was convenient. If he were a TRUE CHRISTIAN then he would have taken the path of his Lord and Savior and not judged and would have forgiven his sins.
So when I say what I say I 100% mean that when you let MEN decide what it is that you will believe, when you let MEN decide what is or is not going to be in the Bible, and when you let men decide which fact from which book will be used because it is convenient for them then you are not following God and you are not following Jesus.
You follow MAN. You follow the same MEN who have kill millions in the name of peaceful living.
You just dress it up every Sunday so that it sounds palatable for the masses.
Christianity is a mockery of the teachings of Jesus. Catholicism has rules not included in the Bible. Baptists use the Bible to keep its women in line.
Jesus literally said to share and feed the tired and hungry. "Conservative Christians" fighting for the Bible in schools literally want them to starve because "they'll figure it out"
It's hypocrisy.
I apologize to you if my views don't fall into a social norm for you. I do believe in God, I just don't believe in yours. I don't believe in ours because yours is actually MAN and it was fed to you through other MEN.Instagram: tomnationwide

I'm pretty sure that most of what I believe is wrong so I'll spare you the details. The best I can do is criticize you because while I know in my heart what I believe is mostly wrong, if you're more wronger then that makes me right and better, even if I am wrong.

Organized religion is only as good as the people who are part of it. To judge someone's faith or belief by the failures of these human and fallible institutions is inexcusable!
Religious people who feel the need to fight and argue the merits of their fallible institution need to find their faith, and be confident that if their way is truly correct, it's truth will resonate in people's hearts through their actions not their words. The above post may or may not be my personal opinion, views, or thoughts.
I need feminism because it reminds me there are women out there who are crazier than I am!

I waited tables/bartended all six years of college; in nice places, shtty places and everything in between. You learn a whole lot about people by serving them. How a person behaves to the guy getting his drinks says a lot about that person. And you, as a waiter, start to figure out what kind of person you want to be.
Everyone on the planet should know what it's like to have to serve someone else. It's humbling, and sometimes terrible, and other times mostly OK.
