    why is this?

    Hi,
    Why is it whenever I do weight training, I gain weight?

    I haven't eaten any extra calories.
    I weight train about 4 times a week.
    I still do the same amount of cardio.

    What's wrong?

    Uhhh, when you increase lean body mass without losing the same amount of bodyfat you gain weight.

    What are you trying to accomplish? Scale weight is really meaningless. Do you want to build muscles and increase lbm, or do you want to decrease bodyfat? Or both? What is your diet like in terms of foods you eat and calories? What's your height and weight?

    I'm trying to lose weight but tone-up at the same time.

    My diet looks like this.
    BREAKFAST: 30g Protein Powder
    50g Oatbran
    Home Made Smoothie

    SNACK: Fruit

    LUNCH: Chicken + Vegetables

    SNACK: Yogurt

    TEA: Fish + Vegetables

    I do 20mins Cardio 4 times a week and weight train 3 times a week.

    muscle weighs twice as much as fat does

    it's a good thing why wouldn't you want it to happen - in order to look lean you are going to need to have some muscle or else you are simply going to look either A. Skinny Fat or B. Anorexic

    as long as your BF% doesn't increase then you have nothing to worry about...imo

    Your bf% is the most important really; I have a client who was 126lbs and fit squishily into a size 8...now she's 135 and wears a size 4 without the squish.

    I agree with you, the same thing happened to me. I used to be 135 lbs and wore a size 10 Now off season I'm 135 and wear a size 2-4
