Did you dress like a Super Hero ? or.. did you pass on that portion of being totally rip roaring psyched up ? haha..
Yea.. depressing.. for a couple of minutes.. you have to really keep yourself in check. Great days and Bad days come and go now and then.. it's the day to day Good days that you keep in mind. So what, I got a crappy 3 reps... barely 3 at that.. I still pushed up 300 a few weeks back.. and back in November, this week in my 531 program I was working with 240 (35 lbs less).. I'll take 5 lbs a month as a constant rate of increase... and I'm thrilled with it.
I don't understand these guys who think they can add 10 lbs a week ---> Forever.
I'll be very pleased with a 60 lb increase in my bench over a 12 month period. Rock Solid Gains.... my friend
In November (providing I keep on this 531 +BBB program) that will be cycle 13.. it may come sooner if I start skipping every other deload week (as I intend to).. I'll have 300 as a working weight. A working weight... my mind is blown. Never thought that would be me. And, lets be frank, around these parts 300 ain't all that awesome. But, I think it does seperate the men from the boys.
I take creatine mono and beta analine in the am with a protein shake.. first think I take when I wake up.--

I"m happy as well. Back on Jan 2nd, I failed at 185 X 10, first set. Did 225 X 3.
Of course I had taken 3 years off from lifting so I ramped up fast. But in only 90 days, I had surpassed my previous highs. 285 was my max before, now I got 295.
That said, yesterday I did 270 X 3, 270 X 3, then I was supposed to do 290 X 1 but failed. :-(Bench: 295 X 1, 245 X 7, 225 X 11
Incline Bench: 265 X 2, 225 X 7
Dumbbell Bench: 130's X 2
Deadlift: 565 X 1, 405 X 8
Squat: 365 X 1, 315 X 2 ATG
Box Jump: 50" Standing

Haha! That sounds like me. I have come off the back of my noob gains. I went from 1RM of 128lbs (January 19th this year) to a 1 RM of 222 lbs in 3 months, an increase of a whopping 100 lbs!!
I thought it would just keep going up and up, but now I have dropped to a 1RM of around 210 lbs and seem to have reached a plateau.
Looks like the real work is just beginning for me

Updating the standings:
Fear not, if there's another entry of 460# at 215# bodyweight, I'll make the call and give the lift to whichever looks cleaner. Until that time, it's a non issue.
My primary goal is get people to post their videos so everyone can see where they measure up and have a little friendly competition while doing it. This is a friendly internet comp and not a powerlifting comp. It's very difficult for me to tell if someone's ass is leaving the bench and most people know the great assistance that provides. There's also noway for me to verify people's body weight. There's noway for me to verify the different "supplements" people are taking, yada, yada...the list goes on.
This comp is run on people's word, their honor and their class. Let's not make majors out of minors.
I'll probably split up the weight classes during the second half of this years comp based on the number of entries. Go with 20 pounds classes starting at 151# or something.
Edit: I've been considering finishing this comp with everyone's wilks score as well, just so I can sort all the entries that way as well.

Well guys im joining back up to golds gym tomorrow so ill be back in this.
Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

OK, I went back ten pages and looked to see if it was too late to get in on this but couldn't find anything. I'm not going to win anyway, so it really doesn't matter. Also, this lift may not count as my spotter put his hands on the bar. I really have a hard time with spotters, I tell them "don't touch the bar unless it is moving down" or I say I need help. Never fails, if I stall a little they grab the dang bar. I don't know for sure if he helped or not, I did stall some but I never felt out of the lift. I called this a miss in my journal and that is what it should be here, at least I am represented and in a week or so I will get another one up with a for sure clean lift. I weighed 254 this morning, I have gained so much weight since I got crushed. I was 216 pre-accident. Anyway, this was 345, the most I have attempted since I played ball in college in '79. Hot dang that was a long time ago.

Wayne is my buddy and we workout together occasionally but he spots me all the time, he knows how I feel about touching the bar "AND" he still did it! if you look close you can see him smiling. I think he is laughing at what I said to him before I got off the bench.
In my journal I counted this lift as a miss. Going to go back and change the above.Last edited by fn257; 05-17-2013 at 08:42 PM.
