    Leg curls work the calves too?

    Seems to be for my case.I can feel tension in my calves during the movement and there is some DOMS the next day...

    No it should not work your calves. You should actually be flexing your toes towards you shins instead of your calves. It allows for a better hamstring contraction and better focus on them as well.

    leg curls are kind of a waste of time ( i think)
    do stiff legged deadlifts and those will hit your hams way better.

    gastrocs, that's why seated raises hit the soleus, because the gastrocs are slack.

    Actually, by pointing your toes you contract your calves, since the calves are a biarticulate muscle they cannot exert force on both ends, so it makes them unable to assist in leg flexion. You won't be able to use as much weight though.
