    stomach sticks out

    my body fat is at a low-mid level but my stomach always sticks way out, especially after eating something. It sticks out farther than my chest when standing naturally. Then WIth a little effort I can suck my gut way in and see my ribs. Genetics?

    #1. Do stomache vacuums. Do a search. That and just suck your stomache in all the time to help strengthen the traverse abdominals too.

    #2. If you keep cutting you'll like lose fat that's under the muscle pushing your stomache out.

    Me too, but it looks like it's the fat attached to our bones that enables movement...the wonders of the human body. I love this site, I've been here all this time and I'm still learning stuff...etc.

    Since I have been fat... well... all my life, I have always sucked in the gut. Been going if forever. I'm so use to it, I don't realize that I'm doing it anymore. Even when I sit, I do it.

    I remember reading somewhere that on men, at least, there's approximately the same amount of flab inside the abdomen as there is on the outside.....kind of gross to think about when looking at an exceptionally "large" person

    Visceral fat versus adipose fat...

    I even see some of this still at 5'9" and 170 -- up until recently, my abs have tended to concave outward, nearly as much as my pectorals. Lately the pecs have been winning, though, as more of the abdominal cuts have started to surface (in my case, the horizontal separations have been the last ones to show).

    Ya I have same problem as orginal poster. I would have to agree with everyone here as well. WHen I was younger I had abs :/ now If I stand straight up and relax, its very depressing. I just started my cutting phase as of this weekend. So I will start a thread sometimes in the next 3-5 months

    -hold your pelvic girdle tight (squeeze your guts together, similar to stopping the flow of urine) when you walk/exercise
    -stand up straight suck it in, breath in your nose out your mouth

    3 things that will help a lot to pull your gut in.

    I suck in on a daily basis, but when I stick my stomach out farther than normal it looks like I'm pregnant, it's HUGE... I'm not that fat.. but it's pretty amazing nonetheless that I can go from 'husky' to oh my god... we're talking a good 10 inches out past what it is at normal... maybe even a foot...
