Army Physical Fitness Test This Week!

Saturday morning (5 days from now), I have my bi-annual Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT). I have been training hard and plan on maxing out the individual events for a score of 300. The last 2 months have been extremely new to me and my body as I have never been on this intense of a training/diet program or taken supplements. (Currently week 8 of the 12 week hardcore with Kris Gethin).

    My questions are as follows:

What should I do this week to prepare physically for the test on Saturday morning? Should I maintain my workout regiment with Kris or should I focus on practicing the events for the next few days (push-ups 2-minutes, sit-ups 2-minutes, and a 2-mile run)?

When should I cease training in order to see maximum output during the test?

What should my diet look like the night/day before and morning of the test? Should I take my pre-workout (MusclePharm Assault) before the test, or put anything in my stomach at all (the test is first thing in the morning but takes about 1-2 hours to get everyone through each event. Also there is about an hour or so span between waking up and actually performing the first event)?

I appreciate any input that anyone has for me.

    Thanks in advance!

Please don't tell me that your training for a test consisting of pushups, situps and a 2 mile run that you lifted weights instead.

At this point...4 days out there is not really much you can do expect one day maxing out and then resting for 2 days so you are fresh for your PFT.

If your goal was a 300...which is damn tough to get...why did you do weight training? You should have focused on your goal of a 300.

Take the rest of the week off or go one a deload. I have my semi annual Navy PRT this week so I am just doing a deload week. In the past I have done my normal workout and 1 to 2 hrs later did the PRT. I still passed.

Thanks for everyones input so far. I didnt think that lifting weights would be that different from practicing the actual events. Now i know. Ive still been cardioing and got a 270 last time no training At all. Maybe a 300 in 6 months then.

so a mock test today and a mock test tomorrow and then rest thursday and friday?

Should i maintain my supplement stack as normal?

Took a mock test today. Maxed out run (100 points at 12:46 2-mile), maxed out push-ups (100 points at 89 reps in 2:00), and 87% on sit-ups (70 reps in 2:00). This gives me a combined score of 287 from the "perfect" 300.

    I'm 10 sit-ups away from my 300!

Completely out of curiosity, what are the bench mark for 100 points in the mile and push ups?

Oorah! Now rest and kill your PFT this weekend. Now you know what you have to work on for next time. There is nothing wrong with hitting the weights...you just have to stop or lighten it up about 2 months out and focus on your PFT..

For my age bracket (22-25) 13:00 2 mile and 75 push ups in 2 minutes will get you 100 points in each.

to another mock test this afternoon and got my 300. Resting for 2 days then killin it saturday morning.

Should I have my pre-workout (mp assault) beforehand? Im considering one of thos gatorade gel packs for a little fuel.
