Help me understand this about macros please

I read Emma-Leigh's thread...awesome info, but have questions.

I'm 188 pounds right now, and sitting on approx 27% bodyfat...I've just recently started Rippetoe's Starting Strength, and I'm trying to figure out my diet.

I did some research, and it looks as though (with my 3x weekly workout), if I want to lose weight right now (would like to drop 5 lb/week until I get trim enough to start a gaining cycle), I should be looking at taking in less than 2700 calories daily.

After reading the thread, it looks like I should take in about 200g protein, 35-50g fat, 275-300g of carbs daily. Does this sound about right so far?

So if my understanding is correct so far, if I stay under 2700 calories daily, but still maintain close to these levels of macronutrients, and continue with the starting strength program, does it sound like I'll meet my goals?

I would def up your fats a bit, around 50-60g, keep those horomones regulated.
Since your protein also looks pretty solid I guess this would result in having to drop the carbs to make up for the higher calories in that extra fat.

    This is crazy...

I was eating less FOOD prior to this, but gained weight.

If I follow this, I actually have to eat MORE than I was before...I think prior to this, I was eating very few proteins, and too many carbs and fats.

I'm pretty excited about this...I don't have to run around hungry, trying to control portions, in order to lose this fat...I just had to learn how to eat.

This is one issue with everyone using the equations to estimate energy requirements. Maybe you ate too little before and did some "metabolic damage" to use the term I frequently see on this site. But if you start eating more calories, the scale is going to head north.
