I am working out at a cheap university gym. There are very few machines so I have to do standard bench press with a barbell. I'm a bit scared of benching to failure when I'm on my own (I prefer working out without a buddy; I've tried with one and it didn't work out as well as when I lift on my own).
Usually my left arm goes first and my form is rubbish on that last rep. Once I got stuck under the bar, but I had Youtubed the death roll and kind got out of it without injury.
I'm following the allpro beginner's workout in the Sticky's.
Any advice?

Firstly you can always ask someone in the gym for a spot, I´ve never seen anyone refuse.
Second, you don´t have to train to failure, at least not all the time. If you´ve been training for a while, you´ll start to get a feel for what you can do and what you can´t so you will know where your physical limits lie.Strength + Speed = Power
If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?
