Consistent diet and training is the only way. The gut like said above will be the last fat to leave.

You said you lost 20 lbs. That means you are on track to lose it. Most folks lose it in the extremities first.
I lost 125 lbs last year...can see veins in my lower legs and forearms, neck & chest. Abdominal & upper legs were the last places to begin leaning out. I'm hoping the final push over these next 12 weeks will impact those areas significantly.
Stay on track. You will eventually shrink that beer gut.I may look like Santa Claus.....but I'm feeling like Elvis...........

As stated , it takes time, patience and hard work. You need to track everything that goes in your mouth. You can use myfitnesspal or fitday to make this easier. I've spent the last 18 months dropping 75 pounds and I have 30 more to go. I would love for it to drop tomorrow but I know that it takes time and hard work.
You seem to be on the right path, good luck.My journal- http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=145041781

Patience and good nutrition are the only way to get rid of that last bit of fat. The problem is, you can't spot reduce fat. People think that if they exercise this bit of the body or exercise that, fat will disappear from that particular area. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. The only answer to getting rid of that last bit of bodyfat is to get leaner all over. Eventually it will go.

Reality
Your stomach doesn't want to go, thats why you still have it. Its like telling a teenage boy to keep his wanker in his pants---in one ear and out the other----stubborn as hell.
The reality is, is that your belly fat will fight you to the death. I have struggled with this myself and believe me, it sucks. Don't believe the misconception of the beer----(if your thinking that at all). Beer isn't doing it---beer will just add calories, just like food! What is happening is your body has basically reached a fat burning plateau, and that wall----well that's your gut. As others have said your gut is one of the last to go---if it goes at all without some huge diet/exercise changes. This is where dialing in your diet and exercise becomes more important.
Here is a good analogy for you:
Take a stock 350 cubic inch chevy (260hp) and have an engine shop rebuild it for maximum HP natually aspirated. Cool, now you have a 400 hp engine. But you decide thats not enough---so what do you do to get just a little more out of that motor. Well crap there is nothing else---the motor is completely custom built, what do I do? ------supercharge it!!
So find out what you need to do to supercharge your diet and exercise program
good luck and great job so far

Not necessarly on right track. The scale is only one tool, you also need a tape measure...I lost nearly 20 pounds and gained an inch on my belly....
Actually, you can spot reduce fat
lyposuction...where they stick it in, it comes out from....
also, believe it or not...one ky reason for belly fat on a lot of people is stress, for some reason it will store there. Reducing stress can help reduce belly fat.May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't...

Well if its a true Beer belly you'll have to give up Beer. Its all the little things over time that make the weight come off. I had to give up my morning Mocha at Dutch Bros or Starbucks, ALL Pop, fast food, pizza, second helpings of dinner (wifes cooking), stay away from eating out, etc...it will suck for a awhile but then it becomes second nature and easier. The more crap you eliminate now the faster the end will come in site. I try to think what is important, one more beer or my weight another year or two from now. Its a thousand choices over time that have made my differnce in weight.
Also 1 hr in the gym is not a lot of activity if you have a desk job and sit at home all night watching tv or on the computer. You've got to be ACTIVE all day. Do yard work, chop wood, wash cars, mow lawn, start a remodel project, etc...specially if you have a desk job you should make sure you're doing stuff in the evenings that does not involve sitting. I basically have watched 1 hour of TV in the last ten days.
And congrats on the first 20# lost!!!

You cant control where the weight comes from each week and it is a long and slow process. Just ensure that you are continuing to lose weight each week and havent stalled out. Also keeping track of your measurements can help gauge your progress. If you have stalled or losing slower then you like then take a look at your diet
