Anyone know why my manager wont make me a cashier?

Hey everyone. I really appreciate your help. I've been working at Publix for 2 years as a front service clerk. I'm trying to work in the customer service department because of more pay but you have to be a cashier first. For some reason my manager been making new workers cashiers and not me. I confronted him about this and he he said soon. You'd think they'd make me one since I been working there way longer than the others. One of the guys that started working after me is going to work in customer service soon. I'm a hard worker and I'm great on the cash register, I don't get it. I was a cashier for a fast food restaurant. I'm going to college but in the mean time I don't understand why my manager isn't moving me up.

ill be honest i asked myself that a lot as well. most cashiers are women 90% of the time and when a guy is a cashier he's either gay, a total square who doesn't look rough, or old.

I know that but as I said, that's the first step in becoming a customer service staff though. And most of them are around my age.

if you're unionized you should be able to officially request cashier training then if he hires someone before training you, you can file a grievance which would force him to train you
whoever designed the Publix flyer should be fired and shot in the brain. straight up abysmal design

I'm good but the other front service clerks were good as well. I don't see myself way better than them.
