If what I see does not amaze me, I am not looking hard enough.
The more you learn, the more you realize you don't know.

I am 5'7" and 125 lbs now. But my long term goal is 165lbs. I have seen a lot of guys in my height range, at 165lbs, look so awesome. I also don't want to look like a block, or a dwarf either. Because I know, as I get wider, I am going to look shorter. But, to each their own. If I could, but I am not sure if I can, I would go to 200lbs, but my mom wouldn't like it, my girl wouldn't like it lol. So, I will stick with 165lbs.
Anyone in here, at my height, was ever 125lbs and reached the 165lbs mark? If so, can you tell me how long it took you to reach there, and how much times did you change your weights. Like was it 5 lbs increase every month or what?

I was 135lbs. Got up to 180lbs (heaviest ever in my life) over the course of a couple of years and now back down to around 165 where I usually stay at. Weight came slow and in spurts. All depended on how much and what I ate, how much rest I got, how I trained and so on. You know all the things you need to factor in.
Maintaining 180 for me was tough with my metabolism. Just didn't have the desire to eat that much every day. Soo my body settled in around the 165 mark as I stated."Franco is pretty smart, but Franco's a child, and when it comes to the day of the contest, I am his father. He comes to me for advices. So it's not that hard for me to give him the wrong advices." - Arnold Schwarzenegger - Pumping Iron

Although I am not the same height (I am 6 ft) I started at about 130 pounds. I still consider myself a novice and have much to learn but I've been going at it steady for about 11 months now and I managed to hit at one point 181 pounds. Right now I'm actually trying to lean out a bit but I always set my goal to gain at least 1 lb per week which I think is fairly reasonable. I am far from a big guy though.. real small frame and super skinny ankles and wrists but needless to say I still look and feel waaaaaaaaaay better than I did before. So yea in the space of about a year I gained about 45-50 pounds although some was obviously fat. I'm getting to the point now though where eating is becoming a chore haha.
I was doing a body builder split (e.g. high rep sets of back one day, shoulders another day, legs on another etc.) but about a month ago started a 5x5 routine to mix things up and because I was stalling on some of my lifts. I did a deload on all my exercises and am just now starting to get back to where I was before on them so hopefully within the next week or two I can push through those plateaus. Just make sure you keep track of how much weight you are lifting and always keep trying to improve, no matter how small the increments may be.

This makes me wonder..
What's the ideal weight for a 6'1''-6'2'' male to look built?
I went from around 140 to 170 from August till now and I've packed on a lot of muscle (a bit of fat around my lower belly) but at the same time I don't look built, but people can definitely tell I work out.

funny I want to get to 185 from my current weight, but my ultimate goal is 205-210 lol
sucks at the amount of calories I'm going to have to eat to get there
3000 is my maintenance so I'm getting roughly 3500-4000 clean calories a day. I'm having trouble eating as it is lol
Anyone have any tips on how to eat more? or rather, increase the size of my stomach so it can fit more food?

Strong bump of 2008 thread last bumped in 2011!!
Rough rule of thumb is 100 lbs for the first 5 feet of height, then 10 pounds for each inch over 5 feet. Adjust to preference."Suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret."
Training regularly but no progress?
You need one or more of these: more food, more weight, more reps or more rest.

To gain 20-30lbs, or even 200-300 lbs, just overeat for years and don't train at all. Successfull strategy of all fat and obese guys.
To gain 20-30lbs of muscle, you'll have to get VASTLY stronger for reps for enough volume for big exercises. And you'll have to eat enough protein and calories to grow muscle.Beginners:

Beyond novice, 5 3 1 or see above:)
Unless it is obvious to anyone who isn't blind that you lift weights, you might still benefit from a little more attention to big basic barbell exercises for enough reps:).
