of you can do like my uncle and invest his money in building houses. he started off bricklaying, then saved money, since he knows everyone in the house building business. now, he finds lots of lands, hires ppl to do the work, and then he pays them, and sell it for alot to either ppl lookin for houses, or real estate companies. he dont make millions...but he makes alot of money.

A franchise could be a good idea. They depend a lot on location, and reputation, so although a particular franchise may cost the same one person could only just break even while another could make a fortune.

I have read and continue to read "get rich" books, and books about self development. I know I will achieve what I want (faith in yourself is an underlying message in all these books), but I'm looking out for ideas to help me get there.

I also liked the porn idea.

smart idea well for me considering i study property economics....

im not too familiar with American Real estate but i would invest in 3 or 4 properties in inner city flats or university/college towns where rents/yields are high and vacancy rates are low as there is high demand. give it a thought, im sure the banks would loan the money as you have collateral. You also have to workout the weekly mortgage amount, which the rents need to be significantly higher, cause there will always be maintenance costs.

Safest option however would be to place it in a managed fund or a term deposit, something guaranteeing close to 10%. I would sit on that for 10 years, not touching the principal.

Say you put the whole $150,000 away, in 10 years it would equate to... approx $390,000, and in that time you would have received promotions more income etc so you could add to the principal. However until you work out what to do, put it away so it can earn some interest

If you work in a bank and "understand investing very well," why the hell are you here asking the Misc for Financial Advice? It should be obvious to you that you can easily become a millionaire by safe investments, probably in under 20 years with $150k. Now, if you wanna become rich overnight, you know high risk= higher possible returns.

Research or whatever which area/land might/will increase in value due to nearby projects..

But to make the real profit you must do a lot of work yourself and be very clued up/lucky with locations.

that is true, im fortunate my dads been a successful builder for over 30 years now so he gets hooked up with mates for property in Australia and New Zealand. For example we made $700,000 in a year in New Zealand for one property with no house or anything on it and we jsut elt it sit there.

I honestly believe the most amount of money can be made from the evil side of people.
ie. alcohol, tobacco, sex, and gambling. A gambling license is out of the question due to the cost, but alcohol license's are only a few hundred thousand.

Property is appealing, but you have to be able to fund loan interest which would limit me.

It might take a few years to become a millionaire, but you have to spend money to make money. Once you get a steady income, increase number of Brides to get greater return on investment.

I know I can get an average of around 10% pa return if I invest in a specific share portfolio (which I have access too), but I want to think outside the box and see what also is possible.

I don?t want to screw up this opportunity to possibly make it rich, and getting 10% pa return on these funds isn?t going to be anything at all like what want.

I've thought about spending some serious hours coming up with a new business idea, most self made millionaires are entrepreneurs that started their own business with a new good or service.

Real estate is an option... you can get a 10%pa return on property, which is not what I'm after... but you can get a lot more if you renovate or expand. To buy another house would see me paying big loan costs which I would rather not do right now.

I don't think anybody ever lies or exaggerates in posts. And personally a mere 10% of 150k is only 15,000 a year, for zero work. Who would be happy with that?
