I've traveled in Britain and trust me. I wouldn't either if I was a Brit. They used to be alpha, now they are embarrassed to be proud of their own history. Sickening to see chit like that. I wanted to see the Brits puff up with pride during the Olympic opening ceremonies, instead we got a gigantic PC circle jerk.

No one in Europe is proud of their country since WW1 and WW2. The belief that European culture lead to tragic events meant that 'intellectuals' began to question the value of said culture and their sneering, cynical beliefs filtered down so that now many ordinary Europeans would rather celebrate the culture of immigrants than their own. George Orwell said that English intellectuals would rather be caught stealing from a church poor box than to be seen standing proudly to their national anthem.

I read that food produce in Britain was fresh and edible, and so eaten more plainly because the ingredients were good enough to stand alone. Unlike in other countries, say India, where the food was often not of a decent quality and so many spices were used to hide the spoiled taste. Not sure how true that is but it makes sense.

Unfortunately can't say I disagree with you. The working class here have sort of just accepted that life is **** and resigned themselves to a life of drinking, drugs and petty crime while most of the middle classes are actively trying to make the country worse without having to suffer the actual effects of their actions. By middle class I'm mainly meaning the young, hip, university and post grad crowd that call themselves socialist 'workers' and the like. (Lol would like to see those *******s even speak with the hardcore socialists of the 70's and earlier without crapping their pants. That said the right wing daily mail reading section of the middle class ain't much better).
Olympic ceremony was very disappointing (expected Danny Boyle to do better) but did really enjoy the opening act representing the industrial revolution which is in my opinion our finest act in history even more than the empire and especially more than WW2. The greatest change humanity has went through since the development of agriculture 10,000 years ago. Sad that we aren't living up to our ancestors legacy.Last edited by Wolf75k; 11-12-2013 at 05:22 AM.
