I'm all for counting macro's, but have you tried just eating like you normally do, except don't have as much pumpkin pie or something?
Seems like a whole less hassle, and you'll probably drop 30 lbs just holding back a little instinctively. In the end the body wont really care if the macro's are the same each day, variation is a good thing.

Tracking provides valuable data, gives you accountability. To me those 2 alone are worth it. And allows you to make changes based on actual numbers rather then your gut feeling. Not to say it can't be done your way. But not my cup of tea during prep.

I'm sure the scale is still drifting from all that feasting + extra food in your intestines. It will level off.

On the contrary lol, I prefer higher carbs and moderate fats when in a surplus. 600g a day for me is enjoyable. Esp getting some of those from liquid bread (beer).

My lifting partner who is also doing smolov, albeit with a Max 80lbs lower than mine was supposed to join me at 5:45 AM today.....He flaked.
I had to go at it solo, which was tough getting there mentally, especially that early in the morning.
Yesterday was a nice football Sunday with the Fam, also got to see some good friends we haven't seen in a while. I guesstimated macros and enjoyed a roast beef sandwich and a ham n swiss sandwich at the bar with my beers and stuck to low far pretzels and beer for most of my carbs. All in all a good day.
Today I have work for 13 hours after that fun leg session......I don't get to sit at work, which blows during this program lol. Tomorrow morning its 10x3 @ 385lbs......gonna be interesting to say the least.Instagram - @gourmetpaul

Lots of awesomeness in this post!!!
That's a lot of 365x5 right there. Serious work.
I completely identify with flaky training partners. I've been training on my own again and love it. No one to slow me down or have to carry. Yeah, a spot is nice once in a while, but I find I'm mentally more in the session when I'm alone. Hood up, headphones in...let's fkng go!!!
And "all my carbs for the day came from pretzels and beer" <----hahahaha perfect. Living the dream, sir. Living the dream"The code of Bushido is harsh and relentless."

Well well well, very proud of that squat session. After squatting some crazy weight and volume yesterday morning I had to work 13 hours on my feet, come home, eat, sleep for 6.5 hours and go back for this session. I woke up very sore with achy knees and back and just felt spent. I wasn't 100% sure I would be able to finish this workout, or even do one set with this weight so soon after yesterdays session. As I was warming up I told myself I had no ****ing choice, there are no respawns on smolov. Got under that bar for the first 386 set and it was a grinder. My hips did loosen up a bit as I went on and we finished strong. The intra workout pop tart definitely helped. But now I have another 11 hour shift on my feet all day doing busy work at the store.
/End Rant
Looking forward to seeing what happens with my weight as I have these new #'s from Jeff. Also excited to see what this smolov run will mean for my other leg exercises once I am done with the program.
Happy Tuesday everyone!Instagram - @gourmetpaul

Paul knows what to do, he just wants a coach as a 2nd pair of eyes for his prep like many people do. What he chooses to do is HIS personal preference. what you like to do on your own is your own personal preference. Everyone likes to do things different way. There is not an optimal way. Some people may help (such as coaches) bring people into their best condition that like to be monitored. You dont always have to do things on your own even if you have the knowledge to do it, sometimes that extra pair of eyes could help you along the road. its never a bad idea or a bad investment if its worth your time, and you can learn something along the way while having someone keep tabs on you during prep where it is easy to slip up. hell even some Natural pro's still have eyes on them during their prep or people have someone watch over the last few weeks to make sure they are not sugarcoating or they are not double guessing themselves on the final stretch.

I prefer having a coach. I know what to do, I just prefer not thinking about it, and following orders .
