I'm a southeasterner so I understand. The UP is a ton of fun, especially if you're outdoorsy. I've been to Kzoo on occasion and I'm supposed to be visiting Traverse City for the first time next weekend. I have a friend who owns a house on the water up there. Our beaches aren't that great over on this side, can pretty much chalk that up to living so close to the Detroit River lol.

I'm very outdoorsy, love hiking and kayaking, floating down the river, and all that stuff. And that is where I live, Kzoo lol. Funny, I always imagined you were a d-town girl or close to. Cool stuff, you just changed my focus from Colorado to moving up north. I tend to stay away from D-town, nothing to great over there. Ann Arbor and Yipsi is the farthest I like to go, and like to visit frequently. Sweet stuff, thanks for sharing the pictures!

Yeah I'm 10 mins north of the D, go to school at Wayne State right downtown so I'm in the city quite a bit. I'm jealous that your drive to Chicago is so much shorter. I went there for the first time over St. Patrick's Day. I wanna get back there now that it's the summer. But yeah, you should definitely check out the UP, they have everything you could ever want and for a decent pricetag. Only reason I would never live up there is due to the crazy amount of snowfall 7-8 months out of the year lol.

Oh come on, if it has everything you could ever want then that should be no reason to be afraid of snow lol. I'm not a huge fan of the snow but I'll suck it up. I want to buy a touareg diesel so as long as I can get around, even with a snowmobile, I'll be good. I just want some nice land to live off of. Get some cows, chicks, pigs, collect rain water, run aquaponics, and have a garden. Land over this way is so frickin' expensive, specially in the area I went to school.

Missed morning cardio today and felt my first round of strength slippage. I was pretty comfortable with squatting 205 for awhile and today 185 was a struggle for 10 reps. I can't tell if I was mentally exhausted from work (had to bid 7 projects today and staring at fine print blue prints for that long makes me a little nutty). Not really concerned about it, especially for the first week.Last edited by resilience5241; 07-16-2013 at 08:28 AM.

My roommate and I teamed up today for a chest/tri. I was pretty frustrated while benching today but I'm not gonna let it get the best of me. I'm planning to start squatting at least 2-3x per week, so tomorrow will be squats + hammies & calves. I also just bought the ACE training books from a friend of mine. I already have a career that I love but I wouldn't mind PT'ing on the weekends while I don't have anything else going on (especially in the winter).
I'm switching my "scale" pics to Mondays instead of Friday. I'm involved in a bb fb group that's holding a cutting challenge and their weigh-ins are Monday and I don't feel like going through that twice a week. Keep it simple, stupid! If it is important to you, you will find a way.

Nahh. I'm not trying to 1RM each time or have a full out quad workout 3x a week. Will only have one specified "leg day" but will be adding additional squats throughout the week. I'll be switching it up between back squats, front squats, hack squats, sumos etc etc.
If you've never seen the "Squat Booty Sorority" thread, I highly suggest you check it out. Not only is it a gold mine for you, it's taught me quite a bit about the glutes/hams/quads.
I'll even link you to it (careful on posting, though, it's highly monitored by the mod Iceman) ---> http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=3705531If it is important to you, you will find a way.

When you do look at it, the thread is about 190 pages...just skip to the last couple and you'll get the idea of the entire thread lol. Aside from the obvious, there have been some really good informational posts about squatting numerous times a week. I think for now I'm just going to stick to 2x/wk and see how that goes. Next time I bulk (hopefully not for awhile after this slow ass cut) I'll definitely be doing at least 2-3, though.

That is basically what i got out of the time up there. I am born and raised in the southeast and will probably live here for the rest of my life. May venture out to Tx, but that is about all i can see in the futre. Made some great friends in Erie and love to visit them, but i doubt i will ever live there again. I like snow... for about a week, then i don't like it so much any more. Lol.

BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY ROCKIN' EVERYWHERE!!! I like where you're going with this. Extra protein will definitely help you recover for the next bout along with TKD. It is roughly 5g carbs for 2 working sets in the 8-10 rep range and those are a large muscle group with numerous secondaries involved. Well, if you feel your performance slacking you can always add it in if need be.
On the bulking note, definitely go 3 times a week lol. I use the 3 time a week method when trying to make a muscle bigger. I really enjoy it. I picked it up from Jim Stoppani's 6 weeks to bigger arms approach.
ditto. Curious to see how your lifting goes.

Kinda mad that I didn't just take an extra shot or two of EVOO before bed. Did my fasted cardio and decided to do a yoga class and some ab work since my legs were still a little tight from the other day. I don't really like doing yoga, I realize it's good for the flexibility aspect (over the last few months my hip flexors have decided to hate me) but I find it really boring.
I'm starting to perfect my protein pancakes, they turned out really awesome yesterday. (These ones are pumpkin flavored, fried in coconut oil)

Might hit my cal requirement one of these days. Did my squats and a crazy ham/calf circuit. Calves are fired up today for sure. Did a 15 minute LISS session since it was 11pm and I knew I wasn't going to be able to make up my cals. Happy Friday, guys!If it is important to you, you will find a way.

What an awesome weekend. I had a good mix of lifting (Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday morning) along with another great hiking trip. Unfortunately no photos this time since I decided to leave my phone at home and truly "escape" for a few days.
Tomorrow I'm heading up to Traverse City. I'm working a half-day and will ATTEMPT to get up early enough to lift before work. I'm starting at 6:30 tomorrow so the odds of that happening are slim. However, my friend has a small home gym so I can at least touch up on shoulders and do some ab work that I've been lacking the last few months. We'll also be climbing out there in one of the national parks and of course, swimming in the lake!If it is important to you, you will find a way.

In case anyone is wondering, Traverse City is AWESOME. Definitely planning to get back there before the summer is over with. My friend has a beautiful house on the lake and the weather was perfect.
Didn't count a single calorie while I was gone the last two days. Didn't have any cheats so I'm okay with it for the most part. My only downfall would be not eating enough based on the amount of walking/climbing we did.
We did a ton of climbing at Sleeping Bear Dunes. What a crazy workout. It's mixing running through sand and hiking at an incredibly steep incline.
Anyway, here's some pics:
