I'm with you. A shower is a shower. Too much time is spent IMO worrying about small things that don't matter or dont really make a difference. Seen some crazy stuff here like the push up thread where the guy says push ups on chairs will always be superior to bench press in gaining size. What??? Or the one about watching porn before hitting the gym to increase testosterone levels. Lol

Cold showers DO help with healthy skin... Starting with warm/hot water opens the pores, and when you rinse with cold water, it cleanses the pores and then closes them. I know from research and from personal use because my back is prone to acne. In the summer it's not a problem because I tan for 20 min everyday and the sunlight helps, but in the winter my upper back/shoulders is pretty terrible. When I take cold showers, my acne is gone within a week.

Look a cold shower holds the same concept as taking an ice bath. Pretty much the same thing people.

This.
I don't think a "cold shower" is truthfully cold enough to reduce inflamation to a substantial degree. Likewise, a hot shower isn't likely to be hot enough to exacerbate inflamation. Typically when we look to reduce inflamation we are using ice baths or direct ice compress. Your commercial water supply just doesn't come close to that, and the effect is probably inconsequential.GoRuck Challenge Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=150446113

I take normal showers -- not too hot, but not ice cold either. It's also 20 degrees outside.
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

Russians have been taking cold showers for over 400 hundred years now.
Soviet scientists actually recommended them to everyone. Cold showers and Kettle Bell workout were a staple of soviet morning lol.
Pretty damn sure Scandinavians do that as well.
Boosts immune system
Improves circulation

They're clearly going to be cheaper. Lower energy costs for obvious reasons. Lower water bill because nobody wants to stand around in cold ass water.

Inflammation
Research shows that inflammation is part of the healing process.
Cryotherapy or taking cold shows only shut down the healing process.
Increasing Circulation to Tissue
Healing is expedited when you increase blood flow to the tissue.
A warm showers and heating pads work well.
Heat-Cold-Heat Contrast
This method help with recovery by increasing blood flow to tissue.
Thus, Contrast Showers of Warm-Cold-Warm or alternating a heating pad with ice and then following it with a heating pad work.
The Reason for Cold with Contrast
Cold restricts blood flow to the tissue. It similar to crimping a garden hose, water flow trickles out.
However, after heat is applied the "Dammed Up" blood flood the tissue. It's similar to releasing the crimped up garden hose. A greater volume of water flows from the hose.
Kenny CroxdaleI guarantee it will Never work, if you Never try it.

Lol @ OP trying to shower for gains...I love hot showers I really couldn't care less if it's better or worse for my muscles, it feels ****in great.
Yes yes, all the "contrast shower" talk.... Not worth it. I'll focus on my gains with diet and training not the shower lol.
