Well, its about that time. Time to get some pro-bodybuilding started. For those that know me.....you probably know that I turned professional in the sport back in May with the USBF and then with the WNBF in June. It was a good year and the recap can be found on 3DMJ's website. I spent a long time writing it so ill just include the link: http://www.3dmusclejourney.com/fa-sean-campbell.php
I am very thankful for my success in this sport. I simply love it. Yea, there are days where i would rather not be starving or perhaps days I would rather be loafing on the couch rather than deadlifting 400 lbs. But I find a great deal of satisfaction that comes as a result of a lot of hard work and blessing from God.
For those that dont know me, I am 32 years old, married and a father of two children. I am a technology teacher at a high school near Rochester, NY. I am a big gear head....I love cars. And im also a bit of an outdoorsman. I dabble in camping, hiking, shooting, etc. I am also a follower of Christ and my relationship with God is the cornerstone I have built my life upon. I like to include a lot of personal stories and adventures in my logs as much as possible because bodybuilding is just a PART of my life. And although it takes up a HUGE chunk of my time I have to balance it with many other priorities and interests, which makes my journey interesting at times. Im hoping to make this journal a record of accountability, progress and just general life as a Pro Natural Bodybuilder.
So, ill start with some pics. Heres a few shots of me and my family, who I am very proud of.
.
I have had the pleasure to have been picked up by a new supplement company that has offered me a sponsorship. NRC has been very good to me over the past 6 months and I have been able to see a little bit of money start to trickle in because of them. Its pretty cool to actually start making a little bit of cash doing something that I love which started as a hobby.
And heres a few shots from last season:

So this post will mark the loose beginning of my prep. Yes, it kinda sucks starting a diet 3 days before thanksgiving and then going into the holidays. This is why I say it starts the "loose" beginning. I am planning for a few "free feeding" days in the next month but have set a moderate weight loss goal of coming down 4-5 lbs in the next 5-6 weeks. I am currently at 175-176 which is a little less than 15 over my depleted contest weight. Assuming I hit 171-172 by Christmas, that will leave me with about 16 weeks until the Tournament of Champions in Columbus, Ohio. If I havent reached an all-time best physique by then I may choose to wait until the Pro American in Mass, which is the early part of June. I am really hoping to come in pealed by April though. Once Christmas is over, it will be laser-like focus on my diet until I have reached something we have not yet seen from me. Im excited to be working with 3DMJ again this year as they had been a big help to me in winning two pro cards last season.
As always, guys......im always up for questions, critiques, criticisms and debate. Hit me up. Im here to make the sport grow so lets get some pro-sh!t done!!!
Heres a few shots showing my current state of fat-tastic conditioning. Im a bit bloated and over-carbed in these shots, but this is the worst of it for my 2011 off season. This is the chunk I have to work with so now its just a matter of chiseling.

I rarely post on here nowadays but I like your posts and you as a poster. (As well as your physique!) Good luck with the prep man, I'll be dropping in. Condition looks good, definately not a 'chubby' off season.. Arms are nuts as always.

Billy, as always, a pleasure to have you along. Im gonna try hard to post some epic food porn this prep.....I always think of you when I make some kind of special concoction in the kitchen.
Thanks Paul....my main goal this off season was not to get too fat. I know that its too short of a time from my last show to my pro debut. I tried to rehab my metabolism as best as possible while still straddling the fence of being a bit too lean to pull it off. Hopefully I hit as much of a sweet spot as possible.
I did a quick search and couldnt find the cheesburg shot....so if you have it, feel free. Its a classic in all of my logs."Who the Son sets free is free indeed....."

Ha ha. Thanks, Paul....I can always count on you. Funny thing is that pic doesnt even represent my fattest. Ive got some doosies floating around.
Thank you guys.....stoked to have you stopping in my thread. You dont know how motivating it is for me post here.
Well, I have a few ideas floating around in my head. I plan on decreasing the volume of heavy deadlifting and squatting. I need to be smarter about my power training....when and where to implement it. I am also going to be eating a bit more "bro-like" this prep. Ive been doing a lot of interesting reading on nutrition and food quality. I am really going to be focusing on fruits and vegetables as staples in my diet. Dont get me wrong....."The Cake" will always have its spot in my diet (among other crap) but I plan on playing around with food choices a bit more. At this point, its an experiment....we'll see where it goes.
Yea man! No problem at all...I truly enjoy helping out where i can because I had a lot of help from others when I first started.
Well, i did make some progress in the metabolic department but I am still eating considerably less than I was last off season. But last off season I had over a full year of solid off season and got quite heavy. I know my calories will probably have to dip lower than they did to get in shape for the Herc. BUt I gotta do what I gotta do. Im ready and willing to go to where i need to go to get the job done.
....as Berto would say.....NO WHINING!"Who the Son sets free is free indeed....."

Some of my best workouts during prep were when my pre-workout meal included a whole bowl of blueberries. My Diet - IIFYM - http://oi55.tinypic.com/50i9u.jpg

I've been looking to incorporate more veggies in my diet as well. Along with the "bro" green veggies, been having some spaghetti squash and butternut squash. Butternut squash with some cinnamon/Splenda is very good, about 10 carbs per 100g. And it tastes similar to sweet potatoes IMO.

Hey Bob....yea man.....going with 3DMJ again. I think its really imperative to have a second eye on my prep. I know how to diet and my training regiment is pretty straight forward....but you know how we get at the end of prep. Its much easier to have someone else making decisions than to rely on our own foggy-headed brains.
Good luck with your prep. Ill have to stop in your thread and see how you are doing.
I am actually looking into juicing a bit (fruits and veggies...not so much steroids...lol). Im not sure how I would count the calories/macros, but it looks like a great way to get a big micronutrient blast.
Craig - im majorly jelly of your playground. How is the gym coming along? Business all started up and running? Im excited to see how everything goes for you with business AND prep. Good luck and keep checking in. Thanks for the encouragement!
Ive been eating a lot of spaghetti squash....love it. Just bought some butternut too. Ive also been getting into kale, which tastes like ass but its supposed to be loaded with all kinds of good stuff. Avacados have been a new regular on the menu too. Ive been mixing it up with tons of veggies lately. Im actually enjoying it because it fills me up and its definitely helping in the energy department."Who the Son sets free is free indeed....."

I really hate to sound like im pimping a product. Im a horrible salesman (which is another reason I teach). But I cant help passing this deal along. If you use my discount code this is the best freaking deal on an intra workout BCAA/NO boosting supp out there. THey have it on sale for 22 bucks. My discount code is SC50 and that knocks it down to 11 bucks. I have been taking this stuff every day....two scoops pre/intra workout and the blood flow increase is significant. But even just for the BCAA's, the vitamin B and electrolytes. Cant go wrong....figured I would give a heads up cause its such a sweet deal.

In on this!
Respect for being a bodybuilder with a family, how do you find the wife and kids adapt to the lifestyle? They moan and groan when you mention the word prep? Or are you already eating much the same at family meal times anyways?
I have a 2 year old daughter and another due at the end of Feb next year, I imagine it's easier to train around the kids when they get older and don't need their nappies changed
