the single most important piece of info ive gotten from all the S&P threads is that outlet stuff is complete trash compared to the normal store stuff. My mind was blown when i learned that outlet stuff was cut differently and just shiit quality all together. Never going outlet shopping again. God knows how much money ive thrown away on those garbarge ass polo tee's

Been lurking for awhile, used to be "PoloSperry" but decided a username change should be done so I'm starting from scratch. I'm a HUGE proponent of inq's and Lonewolf's ideals on being smart buyers in order to fund this style (because full-price for S&P clothing is pretty expensive), so here's what I've put together over the past few years, all purchased on sales (inb4 only 17 years old). I know my OCBD and short collections are nowhere near the level some MISCer's are at ITT but I manage the rotations pretty well. No need to have 1000 articles if you can get a few and make do with them.
Green OCBD (traditional fit) and purple check (slim fit) BB (bought today for $85 total); Red and Black RL Custom Fits ($15/shirt); BB Flannel and Purple Stripe OCBD ($25/piece at outlet); Blue Collegiate Shirt VV OCBD ($30); Classic White RL Broadcloth buttondown ($25)
RL Olive green and Tan Khakis ($20/pair); RL Black Andrew pant ($15); RL Navy and Cream Preston Pants (#2 and 4 on bottom row, $25/pair, Linen); VV Trout Cords (GTH for fall/winter, $40), BB Milano Chinos (#3 bottom row, $30), RL Tan Linens (#4 top row, $35 from RL boutique).
Gray/Stone and Red BB (found at outlet but are from the 1818 line, $23/pair), Green and Carolina Blue BB 346 line ($30/pair), White, White with Blue anchors, and Green RLs ($20/pair). I also have khaki and black Callaway shorts that are currently in the wash from excessive golfing lately lol
And the finale, the Polo collection lol (all RL, all purchased at $20 or less, been collecting since Freshman year)

That's definitely a good collection so far buddy. Got some nice pieces. Big fan of the GTH chords (i've got a pair of dark green ones with mallards/pheasants all over).

Not sure why some are complaining about the outlet store quality. I was just at J.Crew and Polo factory stores today and have been many times and have gotten some great stuff from both. Today I bought a new orange OCBD from J.Crew on clearance for $18, great summer shirt and fits perfect. You just need to know what to look for.
And complaining about the quality of the RL tee's? It's a fckin tshirt who gives a **** I bought 4 today for $12 each. When you're a cash strapped college kid I'll deal with it.

^^Good stuff. The chinos look good on you, benefits of your height I guess. Slim chinos or the traditional cut?
Depends. I've gotten away with shorts and sperrys if its a teenager type place. But my go-to is a black or navy polo, dark denim, and desert boots.
Run big. They recommend a half size down but I did a whole size (but I also wear them barefoot sometimes).
The deal with outlets is that many of them sell clothes that are designed specifically for the outlet. J. Crew is a big example, because if you notice a lot of their outlet stuff is no where as nice or new as the mall stores. Brooks has the 346 line which I'd never buy ever. Not to say you won't find good deals or front-line seasonal stuff at the outlet, but the majority of the outlet stuff is not worth it unless at great discount. Many times better off just shopping the legit store when there is a sale. Departments stores are usually good at this for brands like RL and Lacoste (picked up an original Lacoste polo for $40 a few months ago, this almost never happens at the outlet)---

i don't get all the hate for the j crew factory store. i actually like the stuff they have a lot. their slim/tailored shirts are cut incredibly well and i feel like the clothes in general have a pretty high quality while being only a fraction of the cost (the retail prices are pretty insane at times).

I need some help saving money guys, help me out!
Wanting some new shorts for summer because I only have a few pair I actually wear. Usually just rock 9" khaki's. I want to get some like these:
Also 9", but those are jcrew, and $35 on sale. I'm broke and looking to spend maybe 20. Any other brands out there that are cheaper for right now?

awesome shorts. white polo with brown sperries would work. pink also goes great with navy
at 5'7 9" is too long on you and will hit below your knees unless you have long ass legs (although it's all about comfort and personal preference really. and $20 for shorts? try looking through thrift stores or consignment shops (srs)

Very nice pickup, I love pastel colors for the Summer. Wear a White or Yellow Polo with Brown Sperry's. I would love to rock the shiit out of that.
Check out Land's End, not just Canvas, but the regular LE site. We all got our 9" chino shorts from them and they fuking fit GREAT. For that price you can't beat it anywhere else. I'm still waiting for the Soft Butter color to come back in stock for my size, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.Sperrys & Polos

As the others said, Land's End is a good starting point. Otherwise check out Kohls for their selection of Chap's shorts. They are usually pretty cheap and still have a good fit. Also can't hurt to check Ebay either. I've gotten a lot of good items from there without any trouble.
