So after lifting, I'm still pretty jacked and feel like I need to do a high intensity workout to calm me down/wear me out.
I figured a getting heavy bag would be a great way to go since I've heard it's great for cardio/stress relief.
However, I'm concerned it will interfere with my weight lifting progress, especially since I mainly do upper body workouts. Will training with a heavy bag immediately after weight lifting have any negative side effects, i.e. more vunerable to injury?
In all likelihood, the heavy bag will probably help but I just want to make sure I'm not about to injure myself or pull anything that would halt weight lifting progress.
Thanks for the help!

why not mix it in with your lifting, like active recovery or even as HIIT or something.
i think Everlast is a pretty trusted manufacturer of such things..."I'm Mr. Beast, the big bad Fenris wolf, I'm The-End-of-the-World-Man, wearing the flesh of fallen angels!" - Jack Lupino
"after the 3rd set he vomited, after the 4th set, he vomited really, really hard, I did not have him perform a 5th set" - Keith Wassung

Many gyms have heavy bags. I would just use the one there if one is present. I also agree, the people saying they lift to complete exhaustion are just talking trash for the most part. I certainly would reccomend lifting to failure on most sets. That certainly hasn't shown to increase muscle growth. Doing so for 40 sets or so on the entire workout would be the only way I would be 100% exhausted after a workout. Probably 1/2 through that I would have to start doing drop sets because I couldn't lift my heaviest anymore.
Anyway if you are looking to heavy bag as a safe burnout after your workout, it makes sense.Kickin your azz everytime
