THOUGHTS

I'm a bit of an adventurous guy, so I thought I'd try something different. I've used MP products in the past, so I figured this would be good.

I'm pretty obsessed with both chocolate and peanut butter - if I ate as much PB as I felt like having per day, I could probably hit 200g of protein from that alone. However, I know how tricky of a flavor this can be, because I just choked down the last Dymatize Chocolate PB Elite Gourmet shake, which was more like vanilla nougat.

I'm a big fan of blends, and I was hoping that perhaps I could find one to challenge UP2 but was available at a price that wouldn't require me to take out loans to pay for my loans.

When I saw MP Combat Powder, I was very excited and couldn't wait for this to be delivered. The anticipation swelled throughout my workout. I shook the tub (as I heard this brings out the flavor from a few other reviews), scooped it out, grabbed my spoon, and...

became extremely disappointed. Definitely no PB flavor, and it didn't taste all that chocolatey either. I was willing to let the 8 grams of carbs (a bit high for non-MRPs) slide because I figured this would taste awesome. NOT THE CASE.

By now, I probably sound like a bit of a [insert expletive of choice], but that's really not my intention. I'm just really bummed. I've never returned a product based on something like this - I struggled through 5lbs of ON's sickeningly-sweet "Delicious" Strawberry as well as the chemical colada that was Rocky Road, in addition to the aforementioned horrid Dymatize CPB - but I'm highly considering pursuing a refund/exchange.

In the interest of fairness, I'm going to give this a week and record my thoughts here, but as of now, no more new Chocolate PB protein for me, I'm sticking to what works.

I haven't heard anything about the Triple Berry, I guess you could search for some reviews. I'll update this one to see if the flavor grows on me at all.

The flavor has not grown on me at all. I tried using less water this time, but it is still very bland and flavorless.

No, I have not, that could make a difference. Unfortunately, I'm lactose intolerant, and the Lactaid milk tastes terrible. Also, I've mixed every other powder I've had with only water and they were delicious. This barely has a taste at all.

dam man good thing I got the Bio-X over this when i was decideing which to get.......now lets just hope its good when I try it.

Damn though thats 2 so far, though the Dymatize isnt necessairly bad its just vanilla haha.....xf needs to make there choc pb already so atleast someone will get it right for a whey.

Sorry to hear about the taste. I had to chocolate flavor and I thought it was pretty good!

MovinFe26 did a log on the Chocolate PB located here

His final rating was a 6.5/10 for Chocolate PB.

Well, at least he got a chocolate taste out of it. I'm not getting any hint of flavor...very disappointed for spending good money on this.

I'm using two, and yes I have heard of sludge. But I shouldn't have to add Peanut Butter to this, the flavor is called "Chocolate Peanut Butter."

And as for the milk, lactose intolerant. Still, plenty of other powders taste awesome without milk, it shouldn't be needed to enhance the flavor.

Thanks. I'm planning on using very little water and making it a sludge-like consistency to see if that brings out the taste. Can't hurt.

Triple Berry is much better than the choc/peanutbutter. The taste alright, it just mixes a bit too thick for my preference

I'm using the choc pb at the moment...I agree with you in the aspect that the taste is very light, but I prefer that to others that have that overwhelmingly strong chemical taste as mentioned...I disagree with you in that I taste the pb, but everyone is wired differently. If you dont wanna waste the tub or are willing, you might even consider adding some cocoa powder or something...sorry you're disappointed bro.

I appreciate the feedback; obviously it's not your fault so no apology necessary. I guess I'd be less disappointed if I got just a straight chocolate flavor out of it but it really seems almost tasteless

Third Day -

As one of the other reviewers noted, the powder smells like Chocolate Peanut Butter, despite not tasting like it. Unfortunately, I eat with my mouth so that doesn't help me at all.

Same bland taste today, although I did catch a very small hint of chocolate on the aftertaste. However, that was barely perceptible and definitely not what I expect as far as sufficient flavoring. Again, not trying to be rude, but I'm beginning to wonder how this made it through flavor testing. I'm also wishing it wasn't so expensive to ship back.

Today I followed the directions on the container exactly; 2 scoops with 12 oz. of water. Pretty thick, which is fine with me, thought this might make the flavor more concentrated but I guess not.

Fourth Day -

I mixed the Combat Powder with Lactaid today, which seemed to help bring out the flavor a little bit. Still, it wasn't very rich and had a weak taste. I was hoping the flavor would grow on me a bit but maybe I'm still in the "getting used to it' stage.

Yes, I have, which may contribute to my unusually high taste standards. However, it's not really fair to compare the two products because their ingredient profiles are so different.
