What is your old back problem? Have you read any of McGill's books?
Hope the back tweak isn't too serious. I think a major factor in my back injury was getting fat and wearing my belt too tight on deadlifts.
Nice benching and pressing.

I don't think it was too serious. I think I'll do some squats soon.
Getting fat and too tight belt for deads...yeah that does describe what I Just did lol
Thanks.
Tue May 8
Chin-Ups
BW: 15 sets of 3 with 3:00 rest (so 45 total). Full ROM, dead hang, strict, all.
Burpees w/pushups. I did 9 or 10 sets of 5. The first set I did 5 pushups each, second set 3 pushups each, the rest just 1 pushup per rep. 60 seconds between sets. About 1 minute after the last set I got my watch to work and read a heart rate of 172 BPM (total burpees 45-50, total pushups 75-80)
Kraken Pre
I did the chin-ups to get some pulling in since I only did bench/press a few days ago, and the burpees with pushups because I need to move my ass and get some conditioning. Those last two 60 second rests sure felt short.
221 lbs AM (was 219 yesterday so IDK what's up here, still slightly restricting calories)

My wife has been doing the beach body thing, she convinced me to get up this morning and do the 80 day fix leg day (strength)...basically it was medium intensity steady state cardio, heart rate 142-150 for about a half hour during the working part. Given how little I've been doing I think I'll get a little leg soreness anyway lol

Post workout BW: 217.4
13mm lever belt, wrist wraps. I decided, as I started the seventh set, to just go for 10 and not do any more sets, but I was 50/50 on getting the 10th rep so I called it.
Still a little sore from my wife's 80 day obsession leg day on Thur. Basically it tightened up my thighs and glutes because my back tweak wasn't gone, so no squats this weekend.

Shoulders hurt. Our ~9 year old mattress is a piece of ****. My shoulders are really bothering me this week (side sleeper with under/lower shoulder up under pillow is bad for them anyway) especially when sleeping, but also just all the time. The stretch where you put one arm across the front of your chest and pull it in with your other arm, yeah, I cannot do that.
I tried to do chin-ups but my right shoulder hurt in a bad way as soon as I started up from the bottom position.
I guess the good news is that my wrist feels the best it has in awhile (...haven't been benching or squatting to aggravate it) and I can't remember the last time I did an empty 45 lb barbell curl without wrist pain...so 65 lbs for those is great on the wrist front at least.
13mm lever for press worksets, sub max on both, but not by much.

Thanks.
I may try the (new) guest bed a night or two here and see if it helps. We've been saying we need a new bed for quite awhile now, almost got one a little over a year ago, but good ones are ****ing expensive and we did the whole move to a bigger house thing last year so a new mattress got bumped way down the list (already put a new main floor A/C and furnace in here even).
I will do some front squats this week, should be okay with my back and shoulders.

Think of trying one of those new mattress companies that delivers the damn thing in a box? something like this?
https://purple.com/
https://casper.com/
I have not...but my wife wants to try it, so you should do it first. Let me know.Fierce Five log:

We have one of those vacuum packed mattresses that we bought cheap from overstock.com like 10 years ago. It was a gamble, but it worked out pretty well. We're ready for a new bed though. I'm about 95% sure that purple bed is just a better marketing campaign vs a better bed, but I still want to try it for the 5% chance it's as good as they say lol.

I could have done 5x5 if I rested long, somewhat killed myself, and wanted to risk crippling DOMS.
I really didn't know where I'd be, was afraid I'd get a single set of 3-5 or some ****.
I might buy that purple pillow as a very small test run.

Yeah you can pay the jewelry-like-markup for an expensive name brand at mattress firm or wherever and get a high level mattress. Of course, you could also spend a couple thousand (or more) more at a place like that if you were so inclined (king). $3,500 is probably just barely getting into the top area lol

I think we bought a Simmons mattress....It doesn't make a ton of difference which brand, as the foam is all pretty similar once you get past a certain price point.
I did just read that there are a couple brands that weren't around when we bought ours (casper, dream something or other) that are cheaper and highly rated. One of them was using firmer foam under your hips for better support, which sounds cool.
All I'll say is that it's hard to get the right mattress firmness picked out in the store, memory foam gets softer as it warms up, so after 30 minutes it's softer than when you first get in it. I would say ours is 1-step softer than I really like, but it's not a big deal. At first I was really concerned about the heat retention (I'm a hot sleeper) but it hasn't been a problem.
I would say buy the cheapest memory foam mattress that is highly rated and not under $1000 and has at least a 10 year warranty.Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=153427731&page=1

I'm just here so I don't get fined.
aka I don't want to shrivel to nothing and start from scratch again.
I was going to do 275 3x5 on squats like I did last week Monday, but then I didn't feel like it because I suck. The front squats were a lot harder than I expected.
