Last words before the battle is engaged: This is the first Mass Build program I have done in a very long time, literally years. It is also the first product testing log I have done at bb.com, though I have reviewed many, many products (around 40 threads, close to 200 products -- do a search). I spent a great deal of time either in cutting or maintenance, with long periods of cheats, sometimes lasting months, in between. Ideally, I wanted to add in 1 lb. a week tops, as I felt that would keep weight gain on the side of more muscle than fat. I am clearly well over that, though the weight is now holding steady about 20 lbs over starting weight. Even if I never gained another pound this year, I have still exceeded the ideal for 2006 by 8 lbs. I was planning on taking a hard look at the end of this year and maybe starting a cut in January. I had originally projected April 2007 as the start of the cut, but with this log, if nothing else, it forces the bulking to go on at least 5 weeks into 2007.
This is one of the reasons I was excited about N-Cinerate, though looking at its profile was the final blow, so to speak. I don't really want to stop the bulk, as I feel I have finally got it on track, after a somewhat miserable start, but I can't continue to pile on pounds at that rate. It is just too much to make up when it comes time to cut. As for ZEUS, Chris and I have been talking on and off after I begged him nicely for some Purple-K samples and he obliged, along with some FUBAR samples (both written up in my BodySpace BLOG). I have found him to be one of the most forthright persons on this forum, both in terms of honesty and integrity, so when he felt I would benefit from a test booster and talked to me about testing it, even though I have not used one prior, I felt it was an opportunity that I would be remiss not to take. I'm really excited about this log, as I think it will just add more strength to my already considerable momentum.
I intend to post at least once per day, just diet if nothing else, and will mark the posts so readers can tell which is an actual log post and which is grabassery. I also intend to re-measure everything at the end of 2006 and depending on the status, may introduce cardio in January 2007. I am going to plan the lifting days for January towards the end of this month. As you may have observed, they are already set for the rest of December.
I will be posting total diet numbers, though not actual meal content, as there is no hard and fast diet schedule. I will be posting the exercises and the weights used, excluding warm-up sets. I will just mention the exercise I used for warm-ups. Some of the weights may be less than you are used to seeing in workouts, but I'm going more for show than for strength. I also have written to the companies making the machines for the multipliers and will be attempting to post exact weight as opposed to lettered weight on the pin selection stacks for the various machines, which I don't believe I have seen done here yet. I will also attempt to make commentary on the various methods (drop sets, super sets, et. al.) when I am using something beyond straight/static sets.
During this log, I will be making as few alterations as possible, so as not to skew numbers or results. To that end, I will not be adding or deleting any of the supplements listed below. Likewise, I am not going to get into listing the timing of when I take the various names on the list (beyond what is already notated), unless there is demand for that information. I am really striving for accuracy and objectivity here, so I have purchased a new scale (weight, not food) and calipers (already had a measuring tape) as well as a big enough supply of those supplements to last the entire log, to eliminate as many variable elements as possible. If there are alterations, those will be explained in the log.
I will also be commenting periodically in my BodySpace BLOG, which I invite anyone to read who is interested in further dissertations from yours truly. I would be delinquent if I didn't thank Chris Belanger (Poster AKA Gym God) of Fusion Nutrition and BigBriDrol of Cutting Edge Labs for the opportunity and for the trust, so thank you to both fine fellows, from the bottom of my heart, truly.
Finally and most importantly, thanks to all of you for joining me on this adventure.

God dang...I have to buckle my seatbelt for this one. I am looking forward to this log EMIS and from what I just seen...it is going to be deep.

Thank you for the words...all of you.
My regular posting time will probably be around 10:00 PM MST, as not too much happens that I feel a need to log between then and the next day...
EDIT: I meant to say loosely around 10:00 PM MST, as in not later than, usually. Sometimes, such as today, I have the rest of my night scripted out as far as what I'm going to be eating/drinking that has any calorie value and so will post sooner than that time frame.Last edited by EMISGOD; 12-12-2006 at 07:27 PM.

Workout: OFF
Quality Level: N/A
Diet:
Calories: ~3010
Total carbs: 205g or ~27%
Total fat: 124.5g or ~37%
Total protein: 290g or ~39%
Score: 80% (4 of 5 targets hit)
Quality Level: Mixed. I don't make excuses, but the 2 hour meeting I had at work after work derailed my projected evening eating schedule. I only hit 4 of the 5 targets and the one I missed was the most important one to me overall (protein level). That I didn't miss by much is irrelevant. I still missed it. Calories were also a bit light, but considering my diet was terrible yesterday, due to a visit from a sister I rarely see, who is moving from Western to the Central part of America and was passing through town, I'm not sweating a somewhat low overall caloric total.
Observations: N-Cinerate took approx. 90 minutes this morning before I felt any effect. I am taking the full 3 tabs 2X daily of that and 3 tabs 2X daily of the ZEUS also to give them the maximum opportunity for victory. No overt action by the ZEUS as of yet. I don't enjoy the smell of the ZEUS tabs much and I'm somewhat amused by the motion of the liquid inside the N-Cinerate tabs. I'm half afraid they will break if they get too warm, so I have to be careful when I pack them along to work...

Thanks. I'm pretty excited to see what happens towards the end of this month. Next week (starting this weekend) will be when the fireworks really start, I should think...

Hey EMIS...before I forget - make sure that you take ZEUS before the meal and not after. You don't want to be burping up these bad boys.

Yes. I am following all instructions to the letter, though I am going to alter the timing of the various elements somewhat tomorrow. More on this later.
Thank you both.
I am only on the second day into it and have felt a noticeable increase in energy once. I think it may be too early to detect any metabolic increase, actually. I am fairly tolerant to most chemical agents, so I think it may be more likely to see any effects by this weekend, possibly. I will be using the mirror mostly, though I may break out the weight scale again next week. The calipers will wait until the end of the month.Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991

Workout: Back/Abs
Exercises Used:
Lat Tower = 2 Warm-Up sets (12, 15 reps), 1 Mid-Warm set (8 reps), 3 Work sets (235X4, 220X5, 205X6) [Drops, zero rest]
Yates Rows w/EZ-Bar = 4 Work sets (195X4, 185X4, 175X5, 155X6) [Drops, zero rest]
45 Degree Pulley Pulls = 4 Work sets (120X8, 150X6, 170X5, 180X4) [Up-Pyramids, low rest]
BB T-Bar Rows = 4 Work sets (205X5, 205X6, 180X8, 180X6)* [Static sets, moderate rest]
Horizontal Pull-Ups = 3 Work sets (5 reps each) [Static sets, zero rest]
Ball Crunches Supersetted with Leg Raises = 3 Work sets (25 BC+15 LR) [Static sets, zero rest]
* = Unsure how to measure these. I tend to pile 150 lbs. on the down side and then put the plates on the lift side. This adds a great deal of resistance (test it by putting a bb on the floor, then lifting one end, then stacking 150 lbs. on one end and lifting the other end -- I dumped the stack on the down side twice tonight, so it's getting a ways in the air) + there is the weight of the bar itself being moved. I just counted what was on the lift side as I'm not sure how much more weight the resistance is adding.
Total Workout Time: Approx. 50 min.
Quality Level: AV +/- I was trying to go lighter tonight as my Left Bicep has been a bit strained lately. I don't typically go as heavy on weeknights as I do on the weekends, but I went even lighter than normal tonight. I also was gassed during the middle of the BB T-Bars and the rest of the workout was a struggle. The Left Bicep started its siren song during the Horizontal Pull-Ups, so I cut those short. I had planned another 2 sets of those. A decided lack of energy was also why I cut the Supersets of Abwork a set short also. I wanted 4 Supersets, but that was not happening tonight...
Diet:
Calories: ~3125
Total carbs: 213g or ~27%
Total fat: 99.5g or ~29%
Total protein: 349g or ~47%
Score: 100% (5 of 5 targets hit)
Quality Level: Excellent. Still can tweak the carbs & fat totals a bit, but this is one step from the highest possible level and I'm much happier with the diet today than I have been so far this month.
Observations From The Deck: I was about to comment that I did not notice any effects from either of the combatants today, however, there was a repetition of a side effect from yesterday that I suspect is related, though I'm not sure how. Yesterday, the first day of the log, about an hour after taking a handful of pills first thing upon waking (3 of each of the combatants + 2 Multi XS), my eyes started feeling really dry, as if the natural eye moisture was somehow evaporating. I found this really annoying, but thought yesterday perhaps it was an anomoly, until it was repeated this morning. Apparently, there is some funky interaction between those three things, so I'm going to break them up tomorrow. I break them up when taking them in the afternoon without any ill effects, but the in the mornings I have been taking them together, so I will try probably the ZEUS + Multi XS and then the N-Cinerate a bit later and see if that clears it up. Also, my bio-refuse has been altered to a dark magenta color, similar to the color of the about:mozilla page (cut and paste "about:mozilla" into address bar, only works in Firefox/Netscape) and heavily tinted with brown. I don't know whether to attribute this to the ZEUS or the N-Cinerate as both are unknowns. My suspicion is the N-Cinerate.
Specifically about the N-Cinerate, I was also asked about energy and increased metabolic activity earlier in this thread. I have felt increased energy once and that was yesterday morning, the first time I took either of the Log test products. I commented that I was unsure about my metabolic rate increase, but considering that I loaded a little over 600 calories today before the workout and still ran out of energy, I suspect that perhaps my metabolism is being driven harder than normal after all.

I have not heard back from Paramount on their goddamn machines, either, so I have no real idea what the actual weight on any of the machines is. Well, I do, but depending on their pulley resistance, number of load bearing pulleys, etc. Hopefully, they will come through with that. I also have to go find a math major to tell me how much resistance there actually is on the BB T-Bar Row things...just wait until I start to get into the major improvisation I have to do on Leg Day to hit Quads...
I have a membership until September 2007, but have a feeling I won't be there that long as I am very rapidly overgrowing that facility...Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991

Type it into the Firefox or Netscape address bar, not a google search prompt.
The Lat Tower is the machine with which persons do Pull-Downs, which is what I should have rightfully called the exercise. However, I like the phonetic sounds of "Lat Tower" much better than Pull-Downs and started using that for my own reference some years ago and apparently forgot to change it here. So, Lat Tower is the machine, not the exercise.Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991
