Whenever I am speaking to people face-to-face (in meat-space) and refer to my buddies in this forum I don't know what term to use. Usually when I refer to a friend in conversation its someone that I know from meeting them. But there are many in this forum that I consider close friends that I have never met face-to-face. In lots of cases I only know their forum UserID.
I searched Wikipedia for a term that fits and could not find one.
So is there a good term to use for our internet buddies? Should we coin one?
How about:
- Cyber-friend
- Internet Buddy
Any more suggestions?

I like Baldy's idea too"If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

This is what I say...
"someone I know online"
"a friend from online"
or, depending on how well I know them, just "a friend"
having been on the internet for over 15 years, I have friends all over the world, some of whom I've never met in person... but they are definitely friends with no need for a special category...

I agree with empresscat... I use all of the below.
For me (personally) "Cyber-buddy" is reminiscent of the early internet days when the term "cyber-sex" was big... I would rather just say "a friend" or "a friend from online".
Count me in for the BBQ. I make awesome potato salad (home-made) for large groups. We can BYOB.
