First of all, a disclaimer: "We sweat blood" journal title inspired my title. I can empathize!
I'm not 35, yet. Decided to post here as people seem a little more mature and I will conduct myself accordingly.
I've been training since I was 15, and I have logs for all 18 years. This is my first on-line journal and I will start with today's work out.
I have been slipping with my consistancy in training, hopefully the log will motivate me to change that.
My ultimate goal is to compete in a tested bb'ing show in 2008. I'm an endomorph, easier time gaining muscle and a harder time losing fat. I would like to compete because its been a dream of mine and I'm not getting any younger.
My training style the last 4 years has been highly influenced by Scot Abel's "Innervation training" ( a fellow Canadian) coupled with my body type and goals. www.scotabel.com/services.html
At the moment I'm trying to regain some of my youth and get my strength back up. I was very strong in my younger days and know that if I can match the strength along with my wisdom from age I will be able to successfully compete.
3 months ago I lost 44 lbs during a "weight loss' competition at my work. Due to it being a "weight loss" comp, I not only chased after fat metabolism but catabolism as well. I carried too much muscle to compete against some of the very overweight, non-weight training competitors.
I used 100's for the 1st 6 weeks and then had to quit training for the last 6, that sucked. But, all through I did at least 3 hours of cardio a day. I will never compete in a comp like that again!
I incorporate high reps in all my workouts and frequently use progressive overload to increase my strength levels.
I chase after the holy grail, high reps with heavy weight. There is no way my body will deny me what I want with that work!
I'm willing to answer serious questions, listen, and try to help others on this.
I'm also relatively new to having my own computer and haven't quite learned how to do certain things yet, like post a link that will go blue like other people's.
Pictures are not an option for a bit. I need to learn how to do that and get a camera/computer cable.
If people are interested I can write more of an intro later.
Now let's get to what I'm good at, training!
edit-oh the link worked!

June 4, 2007-Quads, Hams, Calves
BB squats-25x45, 20x95, 20x135, 5(bailed due to ear phone entanglement!)x225, 15x225(that's better!), 3x315, 10 qrters(1/4 of the mvmt)x405, 20x135
Leg press/Leg Press calf raises-20x270/20x270, 20x360/20x360, 6x450/10x450, 2fail@2x540/10x540
Lying HAMMER ham curls-20x50, 10x100, 2 qrtrsx150, 2fail@2x130, 3fail@3x120
MAGNUM lying ham curl-20x70, 15x110, 10x150, 6x170(stack)
Seated calf raises-35x70, 20x140
Quad extensions-20x116, 20x150, 10x210, 8x250
5min. posing.-this may seem odd but it works and hurts like hell!
I try for failure on my heavier sets and am not above cheating and doing quarters to initially get my stength up.
I like to go back and do a light high rep set after I've cheated or used quarters, just to get that form down again.
Questions? Suggestions?
Will be back later.
Thanks.

My training split.
Day one-Quads, hams, calves
Day two-Back, traps, rear delts, abs
Day three-Chest, side and front delts, calves
Day four-Triceps, biceps, forearms, abs
Time off- I have designed my routine to have unscheduled rest days or what I like to call "active recuperation days" (no-weight training, just some cardio).
If I feel too sore to the point that it will affect my next training session, a day off I take.
I like to go to the gym 5-6 days/week, but sometimes life gets in the way!
I train in an old school boxing club (Panthers boxing), it has everyting I need. All the people there train, not just work out or hang and talk. Even though I am only one of two guys who bb'd there, they all train hard, and by the looks of it they train harder than I do.
There are no posers at my gym, only shadowboxers!
I beleive in training with the basic exercises. My favorite is squatting.
Squats deserve special mention IMO. Every year on my birthday since I've been 22 I have made a special time that day to be in the gym to do what I call my birthday squat! I have not missed my goal yet of being able to squat 5 plates (495 lbs) for at least a single full rep.
The past three years I have needed more time to prepare to get there. I started today and have until mid-July to get there. I don't doubt I will make it, the question is the # of reps.
So that's my favorite, now for the one I do 'cuz I hafta.
BB curls, you got that right. Hate those things, but they are effective and the best to build up the biceps. Its not been until the last couple of years I have been able to move any real weight on these and feel them where I'm suppossed to.
That's a bit more personal than having a guys boring #'s on a page.
Tomorrow's back...

Thank-you, do you journal too? links?
Thanks t4m, I definately will check it out, send me a link when you can.
Watch the language , these are respectable people here, not like on the Official Canadian thread in the personals.
Now tell me, didn't knowing you'd post your training give you a little extra zip in the gym?
Gotta go, time to train and thanks again every one, I appreciate the comments.

June 05, 2007-Back, traps, rear delts, abs
Dorians-(AKA reverse grip bb rows)-30x45, 20x95, 20x145, 6x195, 2x245
Deads(bb deadlifts)-20x95, 15x145, 6x245, 3x345
Behind the back BB shrugs-30x135, 25x225, 20x325, 6x405 (grip slipping, gloves are soaked, straps are wet too, that's just enough!)
BB Good Mornings-20x45, let's put some weight on and see...8x135,
Reverse grip narrow chins 1/4's-12, 12, 10--I'm too heavy/not strong enough to do full chins. I will keep trying until one day I will be able-practice makes perfect
Narrow grip pulldowns-20x72, 20x96, <here I realise I have no endurance left, but I am strong the 1st few reps, so I decide to use it to my advantage, this exercise I ALWAYS perform the full ROM>...
8x120, 3x204, more weight, let's push this 1failx226
MAGNUM rear delts done on pec dek machine- 25x50, 20x90, 10x130, 5x172
Hanging knee raise (1st time in years!)-13, 12, 10,
sit ups/crunches- 20/20, 10/6
5 minutes practicing posing mandatories
I'm done. My legs are sore, my back is already twitchy and shakey, and I can barely type this.
I cannot believe how much extra I was able to put out in the gym knowing I was going to journal it after. So thanks for reading.
I will be back later, need some food and a shower.

I was going to return and chat a little about training philosophy but...
I paid a courtesy visit to everyone's journal and read & learned.
I am humbled.
I do not have children, a house, nor many responsibilities in my life. I have been very blessed.
Normally, the only thing wrong with my consistancy issue has been me.
I am quite inspired by all of you!
Weight training/exercise has always been only one slice of "life's pie" that is offerred.
It is so nice to see that not only do you people have that piece covered, but a whole lot of others as well.
It truly has been an honour visiting you all.
I also see its a rise early group. I'm off of work for a few days and will be sleeping in at that time, but good morning any way all!

Thank-you, thought I needed some flare to the title.
Sorry to hear about the knots...maybe try a little lighter until you get used to them. I don't have knots today, but I'm sure feeling everything!
Is your shoulder any better?
Good morning to you as well!
1st of all let's dispense with some of the internet fakeness. It seems people in this section know each others' first names, and I'm feeling a bit odd having respectable people call me Fiend. My username was meant to refelct my training and certain personality traits while in the gym, but not my personality.
My first name is Brian
I've never posted that, been a little paranoid to. I work with troubled youth, and some times those troubled youth don't change their path in life and become troubled adults. I'll take that chance here. I guess if a troubled youth and their gang had issue with me they could find me know matter what I do huh?
I do have a show in mind, but I also had a show in mind for Oct.'07, and then they moved to April'07! Too many months difference to follow through.
FAME (fitness and model expo) was suppossed to have "the prairie classic" in Winnipeg Manitoba (my hometown and where my mom lives). They have yet to post the '08 schedule but if there's another nattie organization close by I'll jump on that.
A natural olympia competition is only 2-3 shows away in some organizations, might as well see if that's a possibility!

Nice to meet you, Brian. FWIW, I was here for nearly two years before anyone knew my name... and even at that, I was "outed" -- it wasn't something I volunteered.
So the 73 in your name must be your year of birth. Oh my, how depressing is that? I think I'm the granny of the group here, although I don't actually have grandchildren. I'm just the oldest female regular. I'm starting to think we shouldn't let you youngsters in here! j/k

Were you upset when you were outed? I would have been.
73 interpretation is correct! bb.com wouldn't let me do Fiend'73, taken I guess!
Age is a state of mind, lol. You feel like I do when I post in other sections! I'm only 33, soon 34, but have been training as long as some of the younger bb.com users have been alive!
Don't hate me because I'm beautiful---I mean youngj/k too.
Have a good one!

Only because the person who "outed" me knew that I didn't want my name publicized and did so anyway. But I am over it. It is a nice group here and so far, no one has shown up on my doorstep.

Hi Elise, trying to get to the gym (my days off at work), then I noticed your post after replying to chocolategirl. Can't be rude, hence the two posts.
Doing what I do for a career (see last post), I'm scared of having children. I would like to, but not yet.
I have "mad respect" (a youngin' term, mad means a lot of) for all good parents! I imagine being a grandparent is a lot different than parenting? Do you get to spoil the heck out of them?
