Besides traps. What muscles would you increase. I would say delts chest and triceps. I also think he hits the back relaxed wrong and it hurts him. What other things would you work on?

If anyone in this thread doesn't have a dream, I encourage you to get one because without a dream, there is no improvement.
People of the Earth, listen carefully! As you know, some very strange events have been taking place recently. Your entire planet was destroyed at the hands of The Gift. But then, in a snap, everything was restored back to normal. Many of you are doubting if all of this actually happened, but I can assure you that this is not a dream. Unfortunately, The Gift is still alive and the Earth is still in great danger. A small group of warriors has taken up the fight on your behalf. However, the battle has been extremely difficult and we can't win it by ourselves! That is why I'm speaking to you right now, to ask for your help. If all of you would raise your hands up to the sky and offer a portion of your energy, we could use it to defeat The Gift once and for all! No more being slaughtered like sacrificial lambs! Consider this your first, small stride towards becoming a warrior race! Now, let's begin! Raise your hands up! Now!Workout Log

His biceps look good in the back double bi pose, his peaked bis are a big advantage in the back double , more so than in front double bi, imo.
His tris, although huge dont look good in the side triceps, even Coleman had this .Maybe its his lateral head?or just the insertion is not perfect?
The crab yeah, Kai simply doesn't pull it off but for some reason he likes hitting it.
Although I still say it's his chest(lacks thickness) and traps ( lack size) who hold him back.Arms aren't that decisive in modern bodybuilding, not like in the past at least.

Coleman had a genetically weak lateral head, and yes, kai suffers from the same problem. Doesn't have much room to grow. Coleman could easily deal with that weakness because he was so dominant, but with kai it just compounds with other issues. It gets even more noticeable because he is trying to beat one of the best set of tris of all time.
Personally i would put kai's issues in the last competitive years in this order of "importance":
1- Condition and or fullness (consistence);
2- traps;
3- bloated midsection;
4- tris;
5- chest thickness."Kai's traps outsize him, when you compare them to the rest of his body, he's very very thick there, it makes him unbalanced." - Lee Thompson

Unfortunately he needs to make all sorts of judging panel gains before he stands a chance.
We're dodging more ninjitsu attacks than Flex Wheeler. We're ducking more bullets than George Farah. We're facing more death than a kid leg pressing at Branch Warren's gym.
You can't stop us. You can't hold us back.

Not sure why so many are pointing out his chest. I feel like it is fine. His triceps would need to come up, but don't feel like he can improve them much more.
His weakness are his shoulders and traps and that is using the word weakness very bravely, because he has very few faults.
His gut on the other side is a HUGE flaw and he needs to bring it in.
But let us face it...Kai with conditioning defeats Phil. Hell, even without pefrect conditioning he beat him in everyone's eyes by the judges'.

His traps are too big from the front. They dominate the other surrounding muscle groups in his crab most muscular. From the back though, the lower traps in the rhomboid area - that's the part that needs to come up.
I think like someone else said a while back, it's possible his lats are just so thick they're covering up those other muscles.
Anyways, Kai just needs to come in shredded. Yeah, I get where people are coming from when they say he already tried that in 2012...but the thing is he needs to KEEP doing it. Over and over. He might catch Phil slippin again and have himself in the best position to move up. Dexter won an Olympia that way, no reason Kai can't do the same. Yes, I do think realistically, Phil would have to be off (because he's that good that even when he's off, he's still really conditioned). But yes, I do think Kai can win, but even if he can't, he can definitely improve his physique and get better.
Other than lower traps/rhomboids - again, NOT the upper traps because those show up in the crab most muscular and seems like they're already too big - he could also bring up his shoulders (especially the medial head) and come in with cuts in his erectors (if he already has that, then he needs to pose in a way that shows them), but that probably just comes with getting tighter.
Not sure he can bring up those medial delts though. After Lee Thompson pointed out that one of them looks collapsed, I couldn't help but notice it, and it's always that one side so maybe it's due to some sort of injury or something. Or maybe it's genetic? Like my biceps for example - not only is my left bicep smaller than my right, but it's actually shorter so it has better peak.
Gut's gotta be kept in check for sure (same for Phil, though last year was the first time he had it).
As for conditioning, I think people had him beating Phil despite worse conditioning because they like him. Sure it's possible that they just prefer that look, but again Phil still had better condition. In 2012, it was actually really close from a conditioning standpoint, and i think you could've flipped a coin that year to determine the winner. That's why I think Kai needs to focus on coming in shredded each time.

Maxed out? he improved his traps last year. Why cant he improve a little more next year?

As for 2009, that was Kai's most beautiful physique while being symmetrical, proportionate and all those good things. However, he looked better in Sheru finals for sure and also Arnold Classic Europe 2013.
I guess since Olympia matters more people always mention Olympias. However, those were the two shows were Kai was winning more handily.Grainy hardcore religious slabs of thick dense muscle. So grainy that it hurts your eyes

do you understand the point of the thread? i said what he needs, independently of if he is able to do it or not.
i understand now that you were responding to my last sentence. It was me mocking the idea idea that he shouldn't develop them because of the crab mm, it has nothing to do with kai, but with what was posted by others in this thread.Last edited by Unbiasedfan; 04-28-2015 at 01:27 PM.
