Hey misc. this is my first post here so take it easy on me. Anyway, I am 14 and have been lifting for 2 years. Mostly calisthenics and curls and Tricep extensions. So, I think it's time for me to level up and do weighted calisthenics. I have a backpack and a bunch of weights. The question is, are weighted push-ups and dumbbell bench press pretty much the same? Should I do the weighted push-ups or the bench press?

First of all, let me welcome you to the bodybuilding forums.
Secondly, let me introduce you to the misc:
- we don't lift
- tend to reply to threads based on rep/stats
- we're all *******s
- sloots gonna sloot
In closing, I advice checking the many other boards this forum has to offer. You will likely generate very few responses on this sub forum, as it is for basically everything non-lifting related.

Calisthenics and core work until your 15, then hit the weight room hard as fuk.
Do parachute sprints as well without the backpack. You'll be a beast

Do squat flips. Increases test levels by 350%
Do you even make an effort to stimulate myofibrillar hypertrophy by inducing skeletal muscle microtrauma?

serious response:
age 14: It's really good that you have discovered working out this early.
The most important thing you need to do is eat and eat more. high protein high carb and moderate fats. If you don't eat well while you're growing you are possibly stunting your growth. Balanced healthy diet keep your hormones in check brah.
EAT EAT IT get big and tall srs. also stay away from caffeine and chit I have no idea if this is all bs or not but better to be safe than sorry.
as for working out, probably broscience but if i were you I wouldn't start working out with weights till I were older. Some broscientists claim that squats / deadlift stunt your growth. I can imagine it doing so but at the same time seems like complete broscience lol. but again better be safe than sorry...
Then again it definitely improves skeletal strength so who knows? your choice look it up.
IMO Stick with the pushups (or weighted pushups) and do pullups(then weighted ones). Pushups are hard to add weight to so when you get stronger you can do 50+ easily in one set so it gets too time consuming and tiring later on. But for a kid I think its better. To answer your question specifically (pushups vs bench) they will do the same to your chest, shoulders and triceps. However pushups are better as if you *really* focus on form, it works the muscles behind your scapula (shoulder blades) keeping them tighter, improving posture. This is really important, posture is a big thing (flat broad back).
cliffs : stick to pushups and eat more (alot more)
also do pullups and other calisthetics, keep a balanced physique.
