So I took an offer for 68k as a software engineer. Got my first check for ~$1900 after taxes (bi-weekly pay)...thats about $23/hr...next time consider taxes b4 accepting any offer

Yup, paid the man $18,000 in taxes last year filing jointly with my wife after all write-offs (property tax, mortgage interested, ext.) Only way to get out of taxes is to have kids or start a company and run all your expenses through it. For us white collar people working for someone else..... pepper thy angus!
