What are some of your rituals to help you perform at your best ?
Today I bombed out so bad and feel like absolute ****.. Had a deload last week and was meant to do 320 5x5 but I could only manage to do 280 5x4 ! It was a **** feeling and I think it was due to lack of sleep.. Woke up feeling tired so I am going to try and remedy that....
Everything felt bad like the bar felt heavy, tech felt off which is strange but I'm sure some of you have experienced this ?
Here's a list for me so far if you guys can contribute that would be helpful!
- Sleep (atleast 8 hours or more)
- Nutrition
- Mobility / stretching
- Stress free mind
Any others ?
Thanks in advance

I think he just ment had a bad lifting day. Sleep, nutrition, and other factors will cause a bad day, also inconsistent technique will as well. I feel most of my bad days were caused by a combination of all of the above, especially the technique part

Lol I actually knew what you meant, dumb joke I guess.
Nutrition and mobility are most important for me. I can function off little sleep and stress actually seems to help me more than it hurts.
I could sleep 8 hours but if all I had was fast food my workout would feel like crap, or I could sleep 4 hours and have a decent diet and my workout would go fine.

Thanks for your input, mate. Technique I will work on that.
Yeah I had music but I guess there was something missing. What sucks was I was so amp'd to train as well lol
Thanks for your input. I feel like my nutrition is pretty good. Could definitely be better so I will look into that and defintiely get some more sleep.** Officially started lifting weights on March 22nd 2007 **

When I know I want to hit a PR I usually eat a fairly carbohydrate heavy meal about 2 hours prior to lifting. Probably like 75g-125g carbs with 30g-50g protein and 10g-25g fat. Then 1/2 an hour prior to lifting I drink a big ass cup of coffee, take a scoop of hemavol, and eat some kind of simple sugar. On my way to the gym I blast some metal and get focused. Then by the time I get to the gym I'm in the right place, both physically, and mentally, to lift heavy.

Hydration is a huge factor for me followed by nutrition then sleep.
If I haven't been able to drink as much water as normal, a bad lifting day is guaranteed whereas I can still have good days if I'm lacking sleep or eating crappy food.Best Lifts:

Only rituals i have are:
Drive to venue with really loud heavy metal music
Take PWO with caffeine (probably had 750-1000mg at states) and few other things
Walk around in random circles because i can't sit still
Maybe a few other things but won' go into detail.
Was this the NZ capo meet? Or a different one, would have been intimidating as f*ck if it wasGoonsquad forums

Well, that's because you are a homo. I achieved a level of conditioning in bodybuilding that many can't... Striated glutes. I'm proud of it. Mad ?
Haha the capo meet was hardcore - I didn't go but heard about it - I've only done GPC so far and have enjoyed it. Thanks for your contribution bro!

I'm the exact opposite. If I took a post work nap before going to the gym I'd feel lethargic. After work, I usually rush home, eat something, then go to the gym immediately. On weekends, I usually wait to go later in the day for the same reason. Morning workouts have never been my friend. Which is odd, because I am the definition of a morning person. I'm up for work everyday before the alarm goes off and make it through the day with no caffeine.

I like the part where it went from him asking about powerlifting. To you bagging his sport (not like you have to look at the pic, plus if you're a powerlifter which i doubt you are, you wear a one piece leotard and are in no position to criticise him), to you then being homophobic, to now being blatantly racist (which is actually agains the rules of the forum so hopefully you get banned)
