Hi my name is Todd, I'm 40 years old, and this is my first I AM Juggernaut Challenge. I have a Bachelors Degree in Sports Science form the University of Georgia, and I'm an ISSA Certified Master Trainer and Competition Coach. I have been active in open class bodybuilding for many years. Up until recently I didn't plan on entering the challenge because of a conflict with a show I had scheduled in May. The decision was made his year to reduce the wear and tear on my body. A recent strain of injuries with the last being a nerve compressed in my spine, causing extreme pain and strength loss down to 40% in my left, arm helped me with that decision. I have since recovered, but I will now be competing in the Masters Division of the NPC. This changes my competition date from May 3, to both July 18, and August 28 (that month should be interesting LOL).
This date change is mainly to make the proper changes to take this class full on.
This is a new chapter in my life...one that I haven't been talking very well, but you have to pick your head up and keep pressing forward..... It's going to be a 24 week journey (28 counting the second show) for me and I thought it might be interesting to document my entire contest prep, from bulking, to cutting ,to contest day, as part of a coping process for me and a chance for you guys if you want, to take a look at the road I travel along the way. If you are interested in that sort of thing. This may stretch a bit beyond the IAJ Challenge, but I will still post here if I still can.
So now....This new chapter in my life, titled "The Second Half"....This is the half that I succeed in everything that I set out to do...not necessarily win so much, although that is always the goal (no one will ever take away that animal instinct, to take out anything in my path when I see something that I want!!!), but more like to just focus on always being better than the last time and keep the battle with myself, not competing with the next guy, and knowing That I accomplished something no matter what.... and stop being so hard on myself because I was second place in someone elses eyes.
With that said, with my new attitude and outlook on this whole situation..... I can tell you that I may not win this challenge, but I damn sure will succeed!!!
Attached are a few pics....The first pic holding the paper is recent...about a month now into bulking.......Bye Bye Abs
The rest are from early December when I began bulking.....My friends think I'm crazy......"OMG, what happened to your Abs"...LOL, I think it's funny.....They just don't understand.
Anyway, I'm not in this to win a challenge so much....I'm in this to succeed, and I will do anything I can to help you all succeed as well. My door is always open, so feel free to ask me any questions along the way, and I will help you to the best of my ability.
If we take this on as a team, and we all succeed in changing our bodies and our lives for the better....then we are all winners in the end, and even better, we have made that many more friends to take on the next challenge Infinite Labs throws at us.... Good Luck to all of you!!!!....This should be fun..
My supplement stack is beastly. I am currently in the process of switching over to Infinite Labs products, I just purchased the Jugg HP and the Infinite Force to get started with the contest. I will just list my supps a general item and change it as I switch it to a IL product.
SUPPLEMENTS:
IL Juggernaut HP
IL Infinite force
Taurine
B1
B-Complex
Fish Oil
Milk Thistle
Vitamin C
Bodybuilding Double Dose Multivitamin and Mineral
Complete Bodybuilding Joint Compound
Glutamine
Creatine
Whey Isolate
My meal plan is very disciplined with a series of 8 alarms that I have set during the day instructing me to do a number of things involving my diet, but it is also so very basic that I eat almost the same thing daily, only changing as weeks move closer to contest day.
Over the years I have learned that food is simply a tool to make the body do what you want it to do...much like a dumbell is. The only difference is your body needs food to function. Thinking this way and dieting so strictly for such a long period of time makes food monotony no longer bother me.
TRAINING
My training is quite simple..."lift hard, lift heavy and push yourself on every rep" Check your ego at the door, keep your form, squeeze your reps and do yourself a favor and research the "Mind to muscle connection" if you are on the path of bodybuilding/sculpting. What I/we do isn't about picking up as much weight as possible and putting it back down. Its about targeting one or two specific muscles and shaping that muscle to the way you want it to look. Don't get me wrong, going heavy and building lean muscle mass is part of the process, but shaping muscle is the ultimate goal... Have fun with it

Very nice intro Todd,
Welcome to the challenge, and I just might take you up on that offer to answer questions. I think it's cool that you have competed, and have the experience of that whole side of body building! I know that at my age, the competing part is not a realistic goal, but then that's not the reason I do this!
I do this to feel alive and young, and strong! I gained some mass, and now want to get my body fat down to the magic 10% or less, then proceed to gain from there!
Close to where you are physique wise would be very cool!ERIC WHITEHEAD

Welcome Todd. Looking forward to following you during the challenge, and after on your road to back on stage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want it, make it happen. No one else, but you, can make you make it happen.
Don't "JUST DO IT", give it your all.
Anyone can show up and pick up a dumbell, but not everyone will give it their all.
I don't stop working out when my muscles are sore, I stop when I'm done with my workout.
Todays excuses, won't help you tomorrow.

Hey todd! I know with your extensive background you probable;y know the benefits of black coffee but i figured id stop by and remind you why its a great addition to your diet during the challenge!
1: A recent Dutch study showed that high volumes (7+ 8oz cups) of black coffee in a day, lowered the risk of type 2 diabetes against people who drank 0-3 cups in a day.
2: The high volume of natural caffeine increases the body’s metabolic rate and acts as a natural diuretic for a dry and lean look! This is why even close to BB shows, most competitors will still leave black coffee in their diet.
3. Contrary to popular belief, 2 recent studies in the Nutrition Journal show that the idea of large amounts of coffee lowering testosterone and sex hormones in men and women after prolonged use has absolutely no medical baseline. When compared to the baseline measurements after 8 weeks, researchers found absolutely nothing of significance. Levels of testosterone and other sex hormones didn’t change significantly in men or women.
Just a few facts to remind you to enjoy that java throughout the day! By the way… this means WITHOUT all the sugar and cream! Cheers!**INFINITE LABS SPONSORED ATHLETE**
