Exactly. And I think the reason for his injuries was more due to him training in a less than brilliant manner, to say the least. However, fortunately he has acknowledged this and will be improving via submax training according to a recent video of his. This is huge for him, since just like he said, powerlifting isn't even necessarily about strength at a given time, so much as it is about staying as injury free as possible over a long period of time to allow the gains to accumulate without interruption.

After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

I'm not stating that they have the best form, but the guys I watch the most are George Leeman, Pete Rubish, and Chris Hickson.

One good way to learn more about deadlift technique is to watch lifters with similar leverages as you, whether they're male or female. David Hansen and Vince Anello are amazing deadlifters, but it will be very hard to copy their respective styles without their unique leverages.
Best competition lifts at 148: 512 squat (no wraps) / 347 bench / 622 deadlift. 1482 total. Former all-time world-record holder (no wraps).
Best competition lifts at 165: 584 squat (wraps) / 380 bench / 639 deadlift. 1603 total. Top-20 all-time.

and you don't have severe scoliosis.
A problem with just browsing around videos trying to find someone with your leverages is that it can be very hard to tell who has similar leverages on video. Angles can be deceiving. This is why going to see someone local to you that is experienced is the best thing to do. Next if that is not available is to post a video using sufficient weight and from multiple angles and have some experienced people review the vid.My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

my form is the reason I don't get hurt even more than I do.
I get hurt for the same reason ive always gotten hurt, I make very fast progress and have a very hard time holding my self back and listening to my body.
iam 22, I just got out of the mode where you can train like a jackass and still survive (being a kid/young man) my methods didn't evolve as fast as my strength did because I have had to learn everything for my self basically... now I seek out the help of other lifters who are smarter and because of that Iam doing slightly better, but I still need to improve on my ability to coach my self and that just takes time and knowledge that I haven't had yet..
iam smart with some things, and a jackass with other things, but deadlift form is something iam just fine at.
