You're eating too much. I know you don't want to hear that, but it's reality.
What's your TDEE, and how many daily calories are you consuming to lose weight?Started in April, 2013 at 212 lbs. Completely inactive at the time. Fat with zero muscle mass.

So I assume you're not tracking everything you eat?
Ugh, where's that dmac copy n paste when you need it...
Found it:
1. Get rid of your misconceptions
2. Calculate your calories and macros
3. Eat about 20% less calories than you burn each day while still meeting minimum protein and fat. Get the remainder of cals from carbs.
4. Buy a kitchen scale and weigh everything that you eat.
5. Count calories using a site like MyFitnessPal. Here's how to count properly.
6. Lift heavy weights to preserve muscle mass, on a program like Starting Strength. Why not your own routine? Read this.
7. If nothing happens after 3 weeks, reexamine calculations, and eat less.Started in April, 2013 at 212 lbs. Completely inactive at the time. Fat with zero muscle mass.

I get asked all the time at work "what's the secret" because I have been steadily losing over the last 1.5 years.
The secret is as old as time and has been mentioned here quite a few times. In vs out. It is feasible(not advised) but feasible to lose weight while eating nothing but junk(take mcd's for example). If you eat 2k cals of junk, but burn 2.5k cals a day, you wind up with a 500cal a deficit or, on paper, 1lb a week(3500cal) weightloss.
sodium intake on that kind of diet would probably kill your "visual losses"(on the scale) because of water BUT, feasibly you would still lose.....
Figure out your base and go from there.
Track everything.
Adjust accordingly.
Profit.

You to?
OP no one ever wants to start tracking their calories, it seems tedious, I get it. I was you. But then I started and all of a sudden found out the reason why I wasn't losing weight. This was after cutting out all fast food and soda and still not losing, I actually gained by doing that and I couldn't figure it out, once I counted my calories I understood why.

And isn't it almost comical the way their expression droops when you tell them it was just good old fashioned hard work and perseverance?

I was stuck at 232lbs for the longest time - my son was born and during that week I put on maybe 4-5lbs from all of the junk I consumed. July 15th I started counting my cals - take a look at my sig for results.
ON MY WAY!!!!!
12/01/14 -> 236.7lbs
03/02/15 -> 221.1lbs
03/13/15 -> 217.3lbs
06/05/15 -> 208.2lbs
How becoming a father changed my view on fitness, wellness and life

If this is how much effort you put into trying to lose weight - even if you lose weight - you're just gonna get lazy and revert back to old habits and gain it back again. Welcome to most of America.
Weight loss is useless without behavior change. I suggest losing the "I just can't do it" attitude and start focusing on becoming confident, strong and makign your life REVOLVE around health, fitness, weight loss and learning everything about it inside and out.
Most here live and breath fitness. If you're not gonna be serious about this - you will fail. Losing weight and keeping it off is "not" easy - no matter what those infomercials say.Last edited by RocknRollMuscle; 09-03-2013 at 02:52 PM.
Weight Loss: Go carnivore or keto combined with 16/8 IF. It'll create easy calorie deficit. Meat is good and heals, stop being lied to.
