Is decline bench supposed to be easier that regular bench? I have found that my max for decline is now 20 lb higher than my max for regular. Is this just a coincidence or have other people found this too?

With regular bench, you have to go out of your way to to let the rear shoulder area assist in stabilizing. I feel that's why a lot of people say that Bench strength improves when you squeeze your shoulders back. There is a shorter rom on decline, but you also start to lose the capacitating power that the pecs provide on flat. In a sense, that power seems to allow the pecs to pull the arms in stronger from flat position.
