    Pissed Off. (P90X)

    Hey all,

I've bought all the equipment, I've bought P90X.. but now I'm stuck and it's stressing me out. I'm lost when it comes to the nutrition side of this. I'm the type of person who likes to have a plan set out for everything. I'm trying to create my diet, and I just don't know what I'm doing. I'm level 2 on the nutrition side of things. I've been looking at the portion approach, do I just pick foods out of this list? If so, how do I turn that in to a daily list of what to eat? I'd appreciate it if someone could help me here...

Forget the nutrition book for p90x it's completely useless.

Read the stickies here about calculating macronutrient needs and calories etc. and learn how to structure your diet based on those goals.

Find your calorie goal. Find your carbs/fat/protein goals and then you will be more than able to plan out things the way you like to do.

To CazaX and tden99: before you criticize P90X, you should understand OP's goals and the program itself. With P90X, I lost 45 lbs in 3 months and got into great shape which primed me to begin my bodybuilding journey. I would have never gotten the results in 3 months in the gym that I got from P90X. With OP being at 21% bodyfat, I would think he is in the same situation as me and needs to lose some major fat before focusing on bodybuilding.

I will never again use P90X but it completely prepared me for casual bodybuilding.

When it comes to starting at ground zero and needing to lose a large amount of fat quickly, I disagree. Cardio equipment is boring as hell and I would not think that the average person would lose 45 lbs in 3 months by weight training. Do P90X to lose the fat and get into shape and move on.

Maybe I am missing something here, but if your goal is to lose fat, why do you think you would get much better results in the gym? Please explain.

Losing body fat is a function of energy balance and does not require "cardio". And, if you had started with resistance training, you would have built lean body mass during that period, not just lose body weight.

    this

and ALSO, you may well build muscle along with losing fat during the first period of lifting, if you were a complete beginner.

What you're "missing" is the 10-15 pounds of muscle you likely would have gained if you'd have trained on a good basic bodybuilding program instead of jumping around in your living room with a pair of light dumbbells.

The guy only weighs 168lbs. If he loses a lot of weight along with losing LBM, he will be skinny fat.

10-15 lbs of muscle gain in 3 months while simultaneously losing 20 lbs (or more) of fat? Don't think that would happen.
