i actually got a question for you guys, what's the day to day like being a soldier and deployed? Are you tense a lot of the time/fearing for your life or is that not the case? Do you worry about getting injured/killed, are these thoughts kinda in your head on a daily basis?

What's a normal morning to evening schedule look like?

always wondered this.

your tense at first, at least i was. you get used to stuff though and try not to get complacent. i dont even think about getting injured/killed anymore, if it happens it happens nothing i can do about it.

for me my schedule looks like this. i do personal security for all the congressmen and important people that come into country. (i miss convoy duty

)
0600-wake up
0615- hygeine
0630- eat
0700- go to work
0825- morning formation
0900- on the road reconning places to see if their suitable for the visitors to go to, i.e.-safe, accessible...
1200-chow
1245- back on the road
1545ish- back to base to wash vehicles and clean them
1630- chow
1730- possible dismissal unless we have a visitor then we may be working until 2130-2200.

i hate my job now, i feel like such a POG.

what do you mean go to work, i guess everyone has scheduled tasks then apart from recon etc; sorry i dont know **** about how you guys are set up at all. Do you get specific order on how to deal with insurgents or do you just shoot em, lol, again i dont know ****. Are there protocols on capturing hostiles etc?

hopefully it aint too many questions, im genuinely interest.

oh yea i got another one, are there a lot of background jobs at the base like...computer guys, engineers, doctors etc? Do engineers get called out in the field to deal with situations etc?

over here in afghanistan all the Marines are here as Individuals, there are no Marine Units here just individual voluneets. yes everybody in my shop has assigned jobs, from taking care of the visitor rooms, to keeping our radios working, doing the recon, etc...

as to dealing with insurgents, anybody can be one so we have certain rules of engagement to deal with them (cant tell u). IMO capturing an insurgent is always better than killing him b/c we can get intel from him.

yes, typically for every grunt there is i think 3-5 support personell on the base taking care of everything else. yes engineers have to go outside the wire and deal with rebuilding stuff, helping to clear mine fields and stuff like that.

they should have given him the medal of honor, a million dollar re-enlistment bonus and orders to disney world. IMO.

lol, i want to change mine to a pic of me on patrol but its not to clear.

i've slept soooo much the past two days i couldnt sleep anymore if i wanted to, i'm friggen wired.

the only thing keeping me out of EOD is losing limbs, i'm not afraid to die, i'm afraid to lose body parts. the wife already x'ed all my thoughts of CI (that was what i wanted to do like a year ago)

Why? seems like CI would be a safer bet than EOD.
