Question for my ice cream making gurus.*
I've been trying to figure out how to make "swirls" in my ice creams, kinda like store bought B&J's or something similar. Doesn't have to be perfect, but that flavor swirl effect it pretty cool. Anyone figure out how to do it or if it's possible with a homemade ice cream maker? I haven't had success yet.*IIFYM - not even once.

Kind of, I used canned Hoisin sauce but other than that yes.
For what you see, it was 1.5 TBSP Peanut Butter, 2 TBSP Hoisin Sauce, 3/4 TBSP Ketchup, 3 TBSP Chicken Broth, .75 TBSP Red Wine Vinegar, 1/2 tsp oil (sesame would be ideal), 1/2 tsp ginger, and one minced clove of garlic. All you do is stir together the first 5 ingredients until smooth, then saute the garlic and ginger in oil for a minute or so, mix in the sauce, cook for 30 more seconds and that's it. Was pretty darn good and covered 6 oz of chicken, 2 oz of pasta, and 2/3 cup peas. Hoisin sauce also is pretty easy to make on your own but I was feeling extra lazy today.Last edited by JValjean724; 08-06-2011 at 09:21 PM.

I'll bite God I LOVE RE-FEED DAYS (officially 8 weeks away from first comp), and today's meals comprised of:
Overnight Oats; Soaked in 'chilled' banana casein/nestle's diet vanilla yoghurt + splenda concoction:
Topped with half a banana sliced/coupled with blueberries + splashed with diet caramel/choc sauces and topped with lucky charms -
MACROS: 42.7P/75.8C/7.4F
After, deeply falling in love with the flavouring of ON's banana casein coupled with nestles diet vanilla yoghurt (which i still find difficult to comprehend the macros in a kilo tub of this stuff), i decided to mix up a smaller batch, and add some skinny cow goodness (double choc sundae + vanilla ice-cream cookie):
MACROS: 21.8P/38.5CC/4.4F
Having subjected myself to days of pizza/burgers/chips and my new tortilla creations, i thought i would go back to the rice and noodle dish. What you see here is basmati rice layered on a bed of spinach leaves, topped with apricot chicken sauce, whole wheat noodles/thick hokkien noodles, layered with diced mushroom/sliced yellow capsicum/diced chicken coated in honey mustard cream chicken sauce:
Before layering the stir-fry:
After:

Continued...
Now after successfully creating my first cake dish (page 221 + recipe is there for the chocolate variant), i decided to opt for a banana version (i was craving banana's all day for some odd reason, hence its inclusion in pretty much everything ). I dont think i baked it for as long as i should have, and the texture came out like more of a tart (rather then a cake - it was gooey/creamy instead of solidified like last time). Needless to say, i enjoyed the hell out of it!
The topping: TO DIE FOR - 'Wings West' vanilla icing mixture + banana ON casein + diet vanilla custard - WOW
MACROS: 43.4P/72.2C/7.5F
And lastly, the buckwheat pancake dish - each layer covered in the icing mixture, topped with queen's maple syrup and vanilla custard:

Another Breakfast Pizza (I'll do something besides traditional pizza toppings once I get to the grocery store). I had mozzarella, pepperoni, banana peppers, onions and bell peppers on this one. A tip from kwebbers that stood out was to add garlic powder to the batter. DELISH!

"Crust" for breakfast pizza.
1/2 Cup flour
1/2 Cup milk
pinch of salt
1 tsp of oregano
3 whole eggs
Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
Place 1/2 cup flour in a bowl. Gradually add the milk. Stir until the lumps are gone(or mostly gone). In a separate bowl, lightly beat the eggs. Add to the flour mixture and mix thoroughly. Add a pinch of salt and 1 tsp of oregano(you can also add a tsp or two of garlic powder). Mix lightly to incorporate seasoning.
Place 1 tsp of olive oil in a 10-12 inch oven safe skillet. Heat the oil on medium, then add the batter. Cook for about 2 minutes until the bottom starts to set. Remove from heat and add whatever toppings you like(save cheese for later). Put the whole skillet in the oven and cook at 500 for 10 minutes or until the crust has risen satisfactorily. Lower temperature to 450 degrees and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Add cheese during the last 5 minutes or so.
I quote the word crust because it does get a little crispy, but is kind of like the midway point in texture between an omelet and a traditional pizza crust. It has a nice crisp on the edges, but the bottom is softer.June 2010 -287 lbs
