Just curious as to how many people use lifting straps. I don't right now but am going to pick up a pair shortly.
Why do you and why don't you.
Thanks,

Take your straps and throw them away..
If you dont use straps your forarms will grow huge....

There is no point in denying your back a good workout while you wait for your forearms to catch up. If your grip lets you down you are not working the target muscles so you should use straps while you try to get the forearms stronger.
I used to get more of a forearm workout than a back workout on my back day....
One way to fully benefit from straps is to grip the bar or weight as if u had no strap..then in your last reps, as your forearms are screaming for release, let the strap do the job and finish your set making your back scream from pain."Everything would have been geared for making my body able to withstand another small dose of iron on the bar for each exercise every week or two, even if it was just a few ounces. Bump. I hate hearing these people talk about how hardcore they are from not using straps. Why WOULD you waste good back workouts waiting for your forearms and grip to catch up??? Look at the size of your back muscles compared to those of your forearms. Of course your forearms are going to fatigue before your back does. I use them on chins and deadlifts, and my forearms are still freaky strong.

My grip strength has increased quite a bit over the last several months. I didn't do deadlifts until a few months ago due to fear of an old injury. I don't work with heavy weight yet (5 sets 12-4 range 145-305 lbs), but the heavier I get the harder it is getting. As was said above, I don't want to be limited by my weak point.
Shrugs/traps. Jeez I do 5 sets of DB and five sets of BB shrugs. 20-10 rep range. I can't phase em. My forearms just give out. I picked up some straps at Dum Dums (Dunhams, my son's name for it) and am hoping to smoke em.

Thread will not end well, even after 8 years.

Wow, its your very first post and you bumped an 8 year old thread about a topic that has been argued to death almost weekly for who knows how long.
Kind of makes you think, in 2018, will someone be bumping one of my ancient threads?

if you want mass use the straps ! say if you did back one day if your grip fatigues before your back does ect you want to be gaining mass in your back not forearms
if you want forearm strength you may aswell hold heavy barbell or heavy dumbells for 30 secs -2 minsMUTANT ATHLETE
