Squats (no belt)
475x5x3
A. Bench Press (paused)
315x5x3
B. Chins (paused-ish lol)
50x5x3
Had not done a lick of mobility or flexibility work all week, so everything felt terrible because I couldn't get into the proper positions. Tight hips were raping my lower back on squats and tight shoulders weren't allowing me to retract my scapulae on bench. Was going to do 5x5 and 5x8 again before starting to ramp things up a little bit more next week. There was just no way I was going to get more volume with my body feeling like it was, plus it was a more strenuous night at work than usual which doesn't help.
My squat/bench workouts are going to have a lot of volume, and my deadlift workouts are going to have lower volume focusing on ending with 605x3 and maybe 635x1 before the meet.

Fuk low-bar squatting, my elbows and shoulders can't take it. Gotta start working a higher bar position or I'm gonna be crippled. I'll do some higher rep work with 405/275 on Friday to work on some form.
It was humid as all hell in the gym today and I was drenched the entire workout. Couldn't keep chalk on my shoulders to save my life.
Made a badass protein shake to get some nourishment back in my body. A couple cups of cookies and cream ice cream, whole milk, and 3 scoops of cookies and cream whey protein.

Not sure. Squatting just isn't feeling natural lately. Having the bar as low as I can handle it is just hell on my upper body. Only way I could stay with this is if I am somehow able to transition to a thumbless grip....which I HATE doing. It just feels so weird.
It's not like I am going to go super high bar, but having it a little higher would be far more comfortable on my upper body. Maybe I'll just suck it up and play with a thumbless grip on Friday.

You have probably seen this guy. Check out where he rides the bar. It looks effortless.

Deadlift (conventional, no belt)
495x3
Tore something around my right glute-ham tie-in today. It's bruised and I can barely bend my leg. Was planning on doing a modest 495x5x3 and I failed the 4th rep of the 1st set. Something just locked up after I got a couple inches off the floor and I dropped it. Now I am in agonizing pain.
That's probably it for nationals. This is going to set my deadlift training back way too far. Sorry brahs.
Ha thanks man. That 545x3 was extremely painful. Going to completely re-work my squat form again once my injury heals up.

Sorry to hear about the tear. Baby the hell out of it and see if you can have an impossibly quick recovery. Don't forget mobility and flexibility have their place too, now you just get more time for them.

Lol I check my subs almost everyday still, but didn't notice this before.
It's healed up for the most part, just gets a little tight now and then. Finally working up with 405 again on squats for a 5x5, trying to focus on form and depth. I still lack a lot of speed because I'm hesitant to push things too hard with it.
Just been playing around for the most part. Added some barbell rows in a bit ago, no idea why I wasn't doing those before.
Not sure where I'm sitting for competitions right now, I figure if training goes perfectly I'd hit something like 573-391-617 at Raw Nationals, which doesn't even crack 1600. Pointless to me at least. Thinking about doing a meet in knee wraps and a bench shirt in August, but probably won't do that one raw. Otherwise there is another USAPL meet in October. Could maybe check out the USPA schedule too just to get some platform time in. I don't really wanna try APF because I don't like the rules about no knee sleeves, f*ck, I wish feds would allow ELBOW sleeves during comps lol.
Baby is due January 16th, so I could still do the state meet for MN in February. Just might not be sleeping as much.
<3 <3 <3 I want one!
